Hi,

can anyone help me with this? I have just setup a new htpc with Vista as a client with streaming option. The client connection is working because I can see the epg and also when I try to view live tv it starts the recording on the server. Unfortunately all I see on the client is a black screen! I can't even close this screen as gbpvr stops responding so have to kill it in task manager. Anyone have any ideas? If it helps I'm using mpv and mpa codecs and evr as the renderer on the client. Thanks in advance Smile Oh also forgot to say same thing happens if I try to view recordings made previously on the server which work fine on the server!

1- Do you have a video-decoder installed on your vista system?
2- You might have to open your firewall.

Hi, yes I have Cyberlink pdvd decoders and the freeware mpa/mpv and neither make any difference. Firewall not on either so it can't be that.

You're right, the logs don't show anything. I had a similar issue after I installed the MPC decoders. Try uninstalling them and see if it works. Also try playing the file in WMP from the client.

I can see you are trying to play dvr-ms live, I don't think that's possible. I think you need another mux so mpg's get created. Those can be played from the client.

I think I am having the same issue. I have been using gbpvr on an XP machine with no issues and now I am trying to use that machine as a server. I am trying to use my Vista laptop as a client. I followed the instructions here:http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/Networking#toc1.
Both machines are using 1.2.13 .
I can see the EPG on the client, but I can not record or watch live TV.
When I try to record I get a black screen with (Not Responding)
and when I try to watch live TV I get a flash of video and then a black screen with (Not Responding)

I am not sure what to try next. I double checked all my permission settings- any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Okay, I troubleshot it to basically show it being a problem w/my server firewall. I added the program and now it works great!
