Hi
I have winlirc installed and configured to change the channel on my STB. It works perfectly from the winlirc test window.

How do I configure gbpvr to pass the channel number on to winlirc?
Is it supported natively or do I need another app to pass it on? I tried HIP but gave up in frustration, it just gives an error.

After trolling though many posts it looks like an exe called "digits" combined with transmit.exe was working at one point.

Is this still the best way? If so does anyone have a copy of digits.exe?

Any suggestions would be greatly apprecitated. Smile

Shaun.

okay doesnt look like anyone knows much about using winlirc with gbpvr.

I'm using a foxtel stb, hense why I cant simply 'learn' the remote codes using gbpvr's native mce blaster support. The foxtel remotes are very 'learn resistant'.
I noticed that there are bin files (0.bin 1.bin etc) that define the codes in gbpvr's IR definitions folder.

I dont suppose anyone has these codes for foxtel? Theres no way of translating a winlirc definition file into these .bin files is there?

hi, i made digits way back when...it just splits the digits into singles so transmit can send them out 1 at a time...[it can't handle transmit 123, just transmit 1, transmit 2,etc.]
should be in same dir as transmit.exe..

just run it for syntax help...
hope this gets ya going...

Thanks!
I actuallly got hip working very late last night by learning the codes from the winlirc transmitter. It was a long shot but thankfully it worked, my guess is the foxtel remote transmits mulitple code bursts to cover different STB versions, where as winlirc just transmits the one short code burst for a pace box, which is 'learnable'.

Thanks again anyway.

I also think we need to add in the appropriate section of the wiki that if you're using hipsend.exe you have to set the recording service to allow interaction with the desktop or the recording service cant change channels when it needs to.

Still didnt have much luck being able to control winlirc Sad
HIP died on me as well. Worked for a while and then settop box refused to change channel after a reboot. Strange and very frustrating.

Afer talking to Aaron (irsuite author) I got IRsuite to work using already supplied codes. Yey. Didnt even need to allow recording service to interact with desktop Smile

If anyone is interested in setting up IR suite just for blasting, see steps below.

Install IRsuite.
irsuite input service config > tick mce output

copy all settop box .IR commands from folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IR Server Suite\Set Top Boxes\*your set top box folder*
to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IR Server Suite\IR Commands

Test digit commands in IRsuite translator.
irsuite > translator (from system tray) setup > ircommands > edit >test
Close translator tray icon - doesst need to be running just for blasting.
N.B. needed IRsuite input service runs as service, ie not visable in tray

Set up exe channel changer in gbpvr config.
executable:
C:\Program Files\IR Server Suite\IR Blast\IRBlast-NoWindow.exe
parameters:
-channel {channel}

done Smile

Hi, I'm new. I don't know how to get or install plugins for GBPVR.
Can I have a link for IRsuite?
I searched the forum, wiki and google with no help except a link to mediaportal forum. There I found a link to IRsuite Server 1.xxx whatever but didn't feel like I should sign up for a membership there to download the file since: A. I've come this far in setting up GBPVR and B. I wasn't even sure that the "Server" file was what I needed.

I feel lucky to have made it through the config of GBPVR without having to ask for help yet. I made it to the point of having a frozen picture on my television set (I think my driver locked up :madSmile

I have a Hauppauge 1600 with composite input from a motorola set top box from Comcast Digital in Chambersburg, PA, Vista x64, Media center remote and Hauppauge remote (both work), and the IR Blasters from the Hauppauge Card and the USB IR Receiver are set up to the motorola STB and I use the s-video output from one of my 8800 GTS's to go to my TV.

Everything work fine in Vista x64's Window Media Center with the exception that while watching a live recording (i.e. I used pause and resume) I sometimes get an error that a file can't be found or stopped working and I have to close Media Center and start it again.

Any and all advice will be appreciated.

edit:

I now have live tv showing a good picture, but no way to change the channels

Shaun.

Somewhere in the GBPVR setups there must be a dialog box for using an external channel changer. See what you can find in the wiki and forums for that. If you can get it to work at all you are going to need GBPVR to send one digit at a time. Maybe that is an option in the external channel changer setup dialog.

One other potential problem is transmit.exe uses the clipboard to send the characters, so both GBPVR and WinLIRC would need to be in the same desktop session to work. Maybe setting GBPVR to interact with the desktop would get you one step closer. I don't know. Search the forums for interact with desktop.

Use the attached as a last resort.

Yes IR server suite is what you need. I'm using 1.4.2 rc1.

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mce-re...-1-a-33512

Yes you will have to register on the media portal forum to download the file. It's not a major drama. You'll also have to look in the IR command file to see if your motorola box is suported, as per my previous post.
