I apologize in advance if this question has been asked in the past. I did search the forum and did not find any solution.

I have a Wintv-pvr usb2 by Hauppage. It is an external device. On the computer I have an ATI video card. I have HD-Directv receiver. I can watch tv using my WinTV2000 that comes with Hauppage. However when I use PVRX2 i can get the channel guide but no picture or audio. Certain channels have snowy black background. In searching the forum there were many request for a log file to troubleshoot. Since I am a newbie please be very specific in your request if you need me to post some the log files.

What am I doing wrong? I ran the MuxChecker and he is the results.

No Multiplexer filters where found on your machine. GB-PVR will not function correctly unless you have Win XP SP1 or higher, which has a built in DVR-MS mux filter.

I do have WinXP Service Pack 2 installed on my machine.

I appreciate all the response. Thank you in advance.

the mux is to do with a digital device (yours is not)

when you add your tuner in config
tab #3 capture source
>add
>analog recording source>settings
click on box only show devices on this machine (yours should show )

fill in the boxes as needed

you will need to run the tuning assistant to get your stations
you also need a epg source (schedules direct or some free one do a search)

stustunz - thanks for the quick reply.

I setup according to your reference. I still don't have any video or audio. I can see the channel guide using schedule USA. When I click on the channel guide and click watch, there is no audio or video.

Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance.

when you loaded your guide did you edit the numbers so they actually picked up stations
to get these numbers(can be either channel number or actual frequency) you need to use the tuning assistant and write down the numbers then add them

tuning assistant is found in the gbpvr folder

if you are using recent driver for this device, you need to select WinTV PVR2 USB2. Note the extra "2" after PVR2.

Hope that helps.

Thank you all for the quick reply. I can get audio but no video. I can only get change channels using the Directv Setup box. I can't change channels using the TV guide on the PVRX2.

Any other suggestions. Thanks.

what do you have selected under video decoder second tab in config
best to choose anything but default

if that doesnt work then you may need a mpeg decoder installed
try this one http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm

PVR USB2 only have the internal turner so you have to connect the coax cable directly to the box. It does not know how to change external channel of the DirectTV box without the IR blaster and few more setup steps.

As for video, you can install PowerDVD or install the free codec to see the video.

stustunz - I downloaded the mpeg decoder. Now how do I register the *.ax with windows xp.

replaytv - WinTV2000 that came with hauppage has to be in a fixed channel and I change channel using the directv setup box.

Now I have lost both audio and video. All I see is fuzzy snowy picture. But I can watch video library with PVRx2. Any more suggestions. Thank you in advance for all the help.
