I lost .mpg

Everything worked well until the H.D. is broken :-(
replaced the disk and reinstall the operating system (XP sp2) with:

Hauppauge PVR150 software
vcredist_x86.zip
NetFramework20.exe
Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-01-24.exe
directx_jun2008_redist.exe
quartz_dll (overwrite).zip
wmp11-windowsxp-x86-it-it.exe

Now to see the files with the .mpg extension I must set "overlay manager" in "config > playback" and with this setting the OSD are almost illegible.
If I set "vmr9" I see "avi-mkv" files good, the characters in OSD are good but with .mpg files the rest of the screen is black.

how can I fix it?

Its most likely related to the video decoder you're using. What video decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app? Before replying though, dont use 'system default' if your system default is having problems. Also try the other options you have available. If you dont have other decoders listed there, then you probably need to install one.
