Hello to all the German Guys who are using this lovely SW.

I live in Munich and like to ad a dvb-c card to my system. The cable provider is Kabel Media Service. As far as I`ve been told they are not using any coding on the channels including the private ones (RTL, SAT1 etc.). So this shouldn't be a problem. They are using QAM64 for modulation.

Is there any German user out there who could recommend a dvb-c card?
By the way my cpu isn't the fastest so if there is something like a HW support on the card that would be a plus.

I've used Twinhan, TechnoTrend and FireDTV DVB-C devices without any problems.

Recording from DVB devices is pretty easy on the machine since all the encoding is done by the broadcaster prior to transmission, so your CPU should be fine.

my 2c: check how they broadcast. i had dvb-c till 2 years ago from kabel deutschland & they did broadcast the private channels with no encryption only analog. the digital broadcast was encrypted for the private channels & not encrypted for the public ones. that's the reason i dumped my dvb-c card & used a PVR350 (has a HW mpeg encoder & is supported by gbpvr)
about your CPU: DVB-C does not need any help (as sub said). PVR350 (or the PVR150) have a HW encoder which also help a lot. your problem might be playback & UI. you should have a CPU above 1GHz, else the UI might be no fun using Wink

My Provider told me no encryption on kms - see my orginal post Wink
But I will try a reciever first anyway

Tnx I allready use a 350 and a good graphic card - so far no problems with that.
I just like to ad the second card, so I`m more felixible (two recordings at the same time) and maybe have better quality too

Which card did You use?

i'm not sure if you see whether it's the digital or the analog broadcast, recievers should be able to recieve both. might depend on the reciever, still the same, better check first Wink

if you have a PVR350 & no problems you won't have any performance problems with DVB-C either. i used a sold out siemens dvb-c card a very short time (it's been my pre-GBPVR time), better stick with the recommendations from sub Wink
