OK, I got my new HVR1800 and am in QAM hell. WinTV finds all of my locals, but using the default scan on gbpvr, I only get a couple and tons of unknowns (that don't work) I have tried the QAM.INI files posted with no love. Looking at the files in the ATSC file, it looks like the frequencies are a lot different for those in the HVR1600 folder. Does the HVR1800 use the HVR1600 folder? or ??? also when I scan, I get 100% quality on some scans, but -7000 strength..

Any ideas?

The HVR1600 folder isnt actually used.

It was just me backing up a file and forgetting to later delete it. The only files used a all.ini and qam.ini from the ATSC folder.

Did you try downloading whurlstons alternative files amd replacing the .\BDA\ATSC\qam.ini file?

I tried whurlstons files (only the us one) and found no channels at all. I opened whurlstons ini file and the numbers look a lot different the the default ones. They look like frequencies on whurlstons and just numbers on the default one. I am not at home so I don't have an example. I assume this format also should work? Is there any way to get the tuning information from the wintv scan? My assumption is that if I can get the channels on wintv, then I should be able to get them on gbpvr. I have tsreader lite, but can't seem to see how to config it to scan for any channels. (if that would help in the debug). I am not against manually adding the channels since there are only a few of them, but I need some way to sniff the stream to find out what numbers to put in. As usual, any help or thoughts would be great.

Small numbers use the default frequencies for those channel numbers. Big numbers specify frequencies instead, which is useful when cable operators are using nonstandard frequencies.

If you can see the frequencies in WinTV, then you can try entering these frequencies into the ini file to make sure they're scanned.

Thanks, it seems that some of my "unknowns" were actually my missing channels, however they would not play due to the codecs I had selected. Some channels worked great with one codec set, but then some channels completely locked my system up if I selected them. I will post my setup as soon as I get it optimized. For everyone struggling with this, the WinTV program does show the frequency (stream ID?) like "79" so you can go into gbpvr's config and select channels from the "79" group. If you don't see anything, try changing to a different codec.
