Hi all. I just recently decided to give New life to a old pc i had. I upped the ram to 1 gig (was 256mb) and want this to become a Media Center pc.

Currently the pc specks are
Intel Pentium 4 @1.80Ghz
1 gig of ram
Dont know what the Video card is.. (didnt show in dxdiag.exe)
50Gig internal HD, 120 gig external HD.

I just re-formatted and re-installed Windows on it.

All I did so far to the pc was
Updated it through Microsoft Update.
DL'ed IE7.

I am planning on shareing the pc's HD or letting my 750 Gig external drive connect to it to play movies.

Will gb-pvr support ".MS-DVR" filetype?
What decoders do i need? And where to download them?

I am also using a semi-old (1 or 2 year old) analog Tv Tuner. It works great on my Vista Ultimate pc.

Edit: Just tried to install GB-PVR latest update. And i got this.
"Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\ Devnz\GBPVR\GBPVRWRITER.ax failed to register.
HRESULT -214710895. Contact your support personnel."

Did you install the .Net 2.0 Framework, as well as the updated runtime?

Link for the .Net 2.0 framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

Updated runtime files: http://www.gbpvr.com/vcredist_x86.zip

I will download the 2nd one. I already had the first link.

I havent installed GBPVR yet. Due to the fact that it failed during install. And I didnt want to mess anything up, so I aborted the isntall

Edit: That helped alot. GBPVR now runs.
Edit 2: How can i get GBPVR to update the tv guide? I am using Time Warner Cable. And "Angel USB Mpeg Device" for the tv tuner card (made by Dell). I have a tv cable plugged into the wall, to the Tv tuner, and a usb cable from the Tuner to the Desktop.

I use Schedules Direct http://www.schedulesdirect.org/. You can get a 7 day free trial. You can spend $5 for a two month subscription. You can pay via Google Checkout or PayPal. I think it was $20 for a year when I renewed.

Is there a free option?

I am used to the Windows Media Center program. They have free guides.

If you still have MCE you can use MceEpg2XmlTv or you can use Yapi. There are some others. I like MceEpg2XmlTv.

ok. I downloaded it (to C:\Documents and Settings\Movie Viewer\My Documents\Downloads) And ran Yapi2XML.exe and got this

"Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a fileis missing or invalid"

You need to read the Yapi wiki page I sent you to. Particularly this part:
"Make sure you have the vb6 runtime files installed and if it doesn’t start get the vb6 files. You may already have them installed but if the program doesn’t work go to the support section of this page and get them. If you don’t have them you’ll get an error referencing an OCX file. "
