Hi,

WinTV-HVR-1600 with QAM (running the latest drivers)
PVRX2 1.2.13

I am currently only using the BDA (digital) tuner, but had the same symptoms while I had the analog tuner also active. If it matters, I'm using the HRC QAM.INI to tune in.

When I try to watch live TV, I get an error stating "No Tuners ar available to watch the requested channel...." Yet I can record the program, and either watch it time-shifted, or stop the recording and watch it. So there is a tuner that can record.

If I go to Config, and set it to Use Preview if available, then I don't get the error, but instead I get a blank black screen with no sound. The program isn't frozen, as I have access to the menus and can do everything normally. Even under these conditions, I can record the program, and watch it time-shifted or watch it after recording, and the picture is fine.

Attached are both sets of logs.

Thanks

Oops, here's the second set of logs - when the Live Preview check box was on.

With live preview mode enabled, can you try viewing live tv with these audio/video decoders selected?
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

If it doesnt help, post the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Installed and set the MPEG-2 to them, and got the same results.

Can you post another set of logs with the audio decoder set to the MPA decoder, and the audio renderer set to 'system default'?

Also, if you do a recording, does generate a normal size file, and can that file play back in some other app?

Sorry about that. Looks like I didn't install one of the decoders properly the first time.

Anyway, did as instructed, and getting the same results. No tuner when Live Preview is off, and blank screen with Live Preview is on.

A little added info, I've previously been using the ffdshow audio so I can get proper decoding to my DD receiver using SPDIF.

The MPA decoder is giving me noise instead (but one thing at a time).

Does the card seem to work fine in the Hauppauge WinTV software?

The setup has been flaky, and seems consistently worse with the current settings.

Now, I can't watch anything I record in the PVR, as I get a crash with Restart.

I can watch it in Windows Media Player, but the sound is messed up as expected (since I'm doing PCM sound).

I suppose the file size is normal, it's 10 MB for a 23 second clip. And as I said, it plays in WMP and looks fine.

Sorry it's been a while, it's been a busy week.

Update

I re-enabled the analog recorder.

Now I do get Live-View, but only Analog. No matter which recorder (Direct or BDA) is on top in the Config, it only Live-View's analog.

The first thing I try to record will record Digital, then if I try a simultaenous recording, then that goes analog.

The analog will play fine, but the digital will crash PVRX2 either right at the start or right in the end (and very occassionally, will play fine).

Both analog and digital files play fine in Windows Media Player.

I've tried both MPV and my old setting of HCW MPEG2 for video decoding.
