I have been looking for an answer for this all night so sorry if it has already been covered. I have a Kworld 315u that I just picked up today. It is detected as a kworld 330u (brackets were messed up in the bda.ini file for the 330u, note for next release maybe).

When I scan for channels, it only scans up to 68. All of my HD channels are at 100 and above, mostly to 120. I have been using Gbpvr for many years, but I am brand new to hd stuff.

Will this card not work for me, it says it will support 64-QAM and 256-QAM. On the box it says it will support Clear-QAM. I am in Dallas, TX with Comcast cable. My TV picks up the HD signals over channel 100 without any problem.

Any suggestions?

(edit: oh yea, I did try it with the built in software, Total media or whatever. That does nto pick up any channels other than analog either.)

GB-PVR only supports ATSC with this device, not ClearQAM, so will only scan the frequencies that ATSC channels are transmitted on.

If you've really lucky, and kworld have implemented their QAM tuning a way very similar to Hauppauge, then you might get away with creating a new section in the bda.ini file for this device, but with the additional "TUNING_SPECIAL=2" line. This will force it to try scanning QAM (in the Hauppauge way).

Ok, I will give that a try. Thank you for the incredibly fast response.

Well... It did scan up to channel 138, but unfortunately, it did not pick up any channels. I am trying it one more time after re-registering the filters, but I am not optimistic. If the stick doesn't work, it is no big deal. I can take it back and get a better one. I had actually planned on getting the Hauppauge, but this one was less than half the price, so I figured I would give it a try. Here is the entry that I put into the bda.ini.

[Kworld 315U (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2883 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=BDA 2883 Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Mpeg2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=Mpeg2 Transport

Thanks for all the help.

The 315U has a FAQ which may clear things up:

1. Some People cannot scan QAM channels with TotalMedia.

a. Sometimes it is a little confusing on which connection for the coaxal cable to use since on the manual and picture one says Digital Antenna and the other UHF/VHF antenna. The Digital antenna as it is stated is for ATSC HD Over the Air antenna and not digital cable.

b. The middle coaxal connector UHF/VHF antenna as it is stated is for analog cable and digital cable QAM.

2. During the TotalMedia setup, when one comes to Select Video Device. There are two choices, USB 2883 Device and BDA 2883 TVTuner.

a. USB 2883 Device = Choose this when you want to scan for basic analog cable.

b. BDA 2883 TVTuner = Choose this when you wan to scan for ATSC over the air HDTV or digital cable QAM. When you click next make sure you choose Cable for QAM channel scan or Antenna for ATSC over the air channel scan.
