I've been trying for quite some time now to sort out the above problems on a new PVR I have built - complete spec is in my signature. Any help appreciated.

Live TV Stutter
Plenty of threads mentioning this but nothing I've tried cures the problem. Setting the Affinity to 1 processor does nothing, the AMD CPU driver is the latest version as is the Dual Core Optimiser. I've also tried all combinations of using and not using the CPU driver/Optimiser.
After a reboot the stutter appears after 5 or 10 minutes of live TV but once it has happened it reappears almost immediately when going back to live TV.

Random Incorrect length of Recording
I've tested this numerous time by recording 3 programs simultaneously and they all record with the correct length but when I'm not testing and trying to record 'properly' I too often get recordings that can be almost double in length. They play back perfectly, no lip sync problems, but jumping forward in the video after you've watched it for a while to try to get past some adverts takes you backwards (obviously the timeline has got screwed!).

Menu Corruption
This one's difficult to describe and happens randomly. The menu buttons sometimes disappear; sometimes they expand and contract in size like the animation has gone wrong; sometimes the main menu disappears and then reappears in slow motion. I've no idea what might be causing this one.

Try a different mux filter. May the Microsoft DVR-MS mux, or the ATI mux.

I'm not aware of anyone having any issues like this. Can you post a screenshot so I can see?

On the stuttering, I dont have any more info for you other than what you've alread read in those other threads.

The ATI Mux works OK, as does the DVR-MS mux, but the tickers on the News channels are a bit jerky. I've found that this is, in part, due to the refresh rate on my Hitachi Plasma. The framerate is 50 fps but I can't set the TV to this. I also can't set it to any multiple i.e. 100 Hz so with it set at 75 it gives an acceptable result.

I'll let you know if this Mux gives the correct recording lengths consistently. The stuttering with live TV, using any of the Muxes, remains!

As soon as I get a scrren shots I'll post it.

Hi, I'm also getting stuttering from time-to-time but I have a new system so I'm trying to get totally up-to-speed with GBPVR before coming to rock-solid conclusions. Usually the stuttering builds up for 10-15 seconds before I lose sound completely, then I start getting video stuttering... almost like I'm losing my signal. Changing channels always fixes it.
A couple of things that seem to happen relatively easily:

1) PVRX2 running (windowed), I start the config tool and sometimes playback starts stuttering. Changing channels clears it (even with the config tool still open).
2) I clicked on the XP 'start' menu a few minutes ago and the playback started stuttering; channel change fixes it.

It seems quite often starting another app triggers off the stuttering. I have a core 2 quad which has never yet been maxed out; even when these events occur (and/or I start another application) I don't get any 100% cpu spikes.

Tried a few test recordings while I was out today,6 or 7, and all but one recorded the correct length. The 'wrong' recording of a 45 minute show was shown as 26hrs !!! This was using the ATI Mux (9.15.0.20713)

I'll try the same again tomorrow with the DVR-MS mux to see how that goes.

Update: Just tried the DVR-MS Mux and the recordings are completely unwatchable. Stopping, starting, stuttering Sad

Given what this looks like, and that I've never seen a single other report of this, I'm assuming there is something screwy about the Direct3D support of your video card. Maybe try looking for a different version of the videocard's drivers.

I'm up to date with the drivers, which is not always a good thing! Also I can't find any reported problems on the web and I've been looking.

I'll try going back a few versions to see if anything improves.

Cheers

I've tried going back from the 8.7 catalyst drivers to 7.7 but the menu corruption problem still occurs. Is there any way to 'turn off' the animation of the button, etc. in the menus?

No there isnt.

I've not seen a single other person report this, so I'm surprised you're getting it.
