I havent really formulated this into a workable idea yet but it just poped into my head so I thought I'd get it down "on paper" before I forget about it watch ....so excuses aside....

We frequently watch TV series from download sources and without fail I forget the episode number of the last show I downloaded, and I have to take a bit of a guess as to which one to download next.
Of course I could just keep the last episode I watched until I need to download the next one but due to hard drive space or just not knowing which computer on my network the last episode was watched (streamed) from it becomes a bit of a chore.

I would like some sort of log page of the main PVR menu that lists all the video files I've watched in GB say in the last month. Even better would be a list of all the series and the last filename I watched for that series, though with the variable filenames you get from downloads it would need some sort of recogition system to grab the series name from the file name.

Thinking further, perhaps you could nominate certain series to monitor the watching of and specify wild cards to use, this would avoid any privacy within the home issues..

Anyone else have the same problems with forgetting the last episode they watched or am I the only looser?

If your content is American (and even for some others) http://epguides.com is a great reference for show dates and episodes numbers.

Here's what I do to handle a similar problem:

I put all the episodes I have into the Recordings list. (I have several ways to do this step - it's best if the name in the GBPVR database is the name of the series and the sub_title is the actual episode/series title and number).

Once watched via Recordings, they are marked in Recordings as having been watched. I may have a whole season that I'm slowly watching, and this way I can track which eps I've watched. I can even keep track of where I stopped in the middle of watching an episode and pick up at the same point weeks later.

Later, I can delete them manually via File Explorer, or delete them through Video Library, or just move them off to a DVD. Those steps free up the disk space, but leave them listed in Recordings. I just make sure that I don't delete through Recordings, else I would lose the entry in Recordings. I have config.xml set so it does not automatically delete from Recordings any files that it can't find. The entry remains listed in Recordings until I specifically tell it to remove the entry. I don't do that until I've got the next episode.

UltraXMLTV will enhance your program listings to use pretty much the same format of Season/Episode info that Torrents use (pretty much!)

Anyway, I can record S02E2 with tuner and download S02E3 from a torrent site. I usually save the torrent into the same folder as my specific recordings. Although I don't import the recordings into the Database so it will display in the Recordings plugin like dennit, I can see a list of my shows, usually in correct ascending order in the Video Plugin...

My source for the episode info is both TVDB.com and epguides.com. They have many (but certainly not all) non Amercian shows listed...

Also, I little known utility I wrote and include with Ultra is NetNamer, which is kind of a file explorer and epguides.com info synchronizer. I haven't done that much documentation, but would be happy to help you out with that.

It's great for batch renaming to keep all your recordings, and downloads in the same naming convention

Sorry for the delay, I've had little time to tap away on the forum of late, how do you import your video files into the recordings database? Is there an available tool to do this. (or perhaps its already in config but I missed it)

.

In principle I really like the idea of this, but I fear this is not Wife friendly, she would never stick to the process and my recordings db and video foledrs would end up a mess.

Having had time to think a bit more about what I would like....either an option in the Videos menu to add to Recordings DB, or a bit slicker ... in the recordings menu add the ability to setup a search string to automatically add video files from the videos directory to the recordings db e.g. *<insert seriesname>_S**E**

Then an option in recordings to delete the file, keep the record of the file in the db and perhaps highlight the video as being a db entry only (i.e. it doesnt point to a file)

Perhaps someone has already written scripts to do most of this, but the older I get the less I can be bothered to mess about with getting stuff like this to work. After all I could just write down the last one I watched and that would fix the problem!

Thanks all for the suggestions.
