I am having a problem with viewing channels other than TV3 w/ AC3 on NZ Freeview.

I am using a Hauppage HVR 2200, with the cyberlink H264 codec, and have a vid card which supports hardware decoding. The cpu is not much over 11% when viewing these channels.

The problem is that when i change channels, the audio stutters, with constant dropouts. I am in line of sight of both Kaukau, and Baxters knob, and signal strength doesn't appear to be the issue.

I am using Monogram AAC 0.9.5.0 and it is set in the config to use the decoder.

This is most frustrating - what can i do to help identify what is going wrong?

It seems like if i press 'live tv' that the audio will work fine. Stuttering only occurs after i change channels.

Please- help!

I am still having this problem when viewing Freeview NZ. It seems like this happens - not all the time- when i change channels.

It never happens on TV3 with AC3 set.

Any help, most greatfully recieved.

What sort of aerial do you have? Sounds like a possible signal strength issue to me.

Hi, I think I have a similar setup (hvr2200, etc), and had irregular stuttering problems - not all channels and not all the time. Although you think you have good signal strength, not all channels are broadcast on the same frequency, and possibly not all frequencies are being received at the same strength... at least that's that it appeared to be happening in my situation.

Do you have stuttering from the very instant you change channels, or does it start a few seconds after changing, and build up, getting worse, over a few seconds?

it happens instantly at channel change, but somewhat unpredictably (2 times out of 4, maybe?). it never happens on any channel when watched directly, i.e tha landing channel, when pressing live tv.

You can seemingly workaround the issue by pausing live tv and watching it a few seconds delayed, in which case you never get sound 'stutter' - maybe i should try and record what is happening- sound is constantly fading in/out/

i am in direct line of site of baxters knob and it is around 3kms away.(also line of sight to kaukau). a non pc based stb works fine on our aerial, so i'm not convinced signal is the issue.

If you're using timeshift mode, it might worth increasing the live tv pre-play delay.

There is a known bug that can cause the live tv pre-play delay to be ignored. This patch will fix it: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=2 (even though that thread isnt about that problem).

It may or may not help you with this problem though. It definitely wont help if you're using live preview mode (since the pre-play delay is only relevent for timeshift mode). If you are using timeshift mode, but this patch doesnt help, then try switching to live preview mode instead.

live preview mode is checked, and return from timeshift after channel change.

er- should point out that problem only happens after changing channel- what does disabling the second (tineshift) option do?
