well i'm finally getting a freeview card (now have access to aerial that supports it), and was wondering what the best card to get (out of these, or feel free to suggest another one). this will only be used for freeview over a aerial and not from a satellite (but might be handy to support standard tv too) - and its obviously has to work with gbpvr Tongue

1. Hauppauge WinTV HVR2200 PCI-E
2. Hauppauge WinTV-HVR4000 HD Quad-mode TV receiver
3. Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 50 TV Card
4. Hauppauge WinTV-NovaT 500HD - Dual DVB-T Tuner!

the things that would make me buy one card over another would be
1. supports recording 2 channels at once (in hd)
2. pci express (im running low on pci slots)
3. must NOT be external
4. hauppauge brand, ive got many a pvr 150/350 card and they have always been good. its a good brand for this kind of thing.

so thoughts/recommendations ?

TIA

All of these devices should be fine. I guess it comes down to what you want to do other than DVB-T, and the slots you have available in your PC.

HVR-2200, PCI-E, dual tuner each capable of either analog or DVB-T.
HVR-4000, PCI, single tuner capable of DVB-T/DVB-S/DVB-S2. Also has analog, but lacks hardware encoder (so not very useful for analog)
Nova-T 500, PCI, dual tuner DVB-T only.

so the hvr-2200 is probably the best card for my setup? (my setup being just terrestrial freeview and still wanting to watch prime occasionally)

and how does gbpvr handle the tuners being both freeview and standard tv? do i just setup the one tuner card and in the "channels" datagrid set tv1/tv2/3/c4/tvnz6/tvnz7 to a freeview "frequency" and prime to a "cable" frequency?

Yes, at least thats the theory. There is a known problem in this area, but its fixed in the next build, and can be worked around by tweaking the tuner names in the bda.ini/direct.ini files.

You setup four capture sources, one analog and one digital for each tuner. The analog capture sources need to point to an xmltv file with prime. The digital capture sources point to an xmltv file with the rest of the channels, then you hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button to scan for channels, then use combo boxes to map the dvb channel name to the xmltv channel name.
