I would like the extended program information. I use SchedulesDirect and have the most recent GBPVR (1.2.13).

Which plugin would be the best to use to get this information displaying on my system?

Thanks!

check the wiki...i'd suggest UltraXmltv enhancer for schedules direct, tho some of the others may do just as well..i used to use I-xmltv-extra till it stopped working with my MCE lineups..

The WIKI isn't updated all that often so I thought it was best to ask the current users.

The Wiki page for the UltraXmltv enhancer starts out with saying the UltraXmltv Manager "…is temporarily discontinued due to lack of user support and interest. The utility is currently unavailable within the UltraXMLTV download. "

And then it says UltraXmltv Manager "is the corner stone for UltraXMLTV. It assists with choosing grabbers, the Enhancer, certain GB-PVR database tweaks, and helps hook the EPG Update into a nightly process."

Soooo, it doesn't sound like a good choice to me if the "corner stone" configuation program is no longer available.

Nobody grabs this information with GBPVR V1.2.13???

I like GBPVR, but I really miss the "new", "repeat", movie year, info, etc. information that I get off my cable box. From what I understand that info is available from Schedules Direct but GBPVR doesn't utilize it (and that's done to keep it compatible with many epg sources). Since it's available I'd really like to utilize it . . . nobody else does this with the current version of GBPVR??? If so, please share how you do it!!! (pleeeeease!)

I have been using the Enhancer for months with good results (tho' I don't use Schedules Direct). It does what it's supposed to do but you may have to wrestle your way through the user interface and documentation (Sorry, Frank).

Good Luck

OK, I'm lazy and I'll admit it! Big Grin UltraXML looked like a lot of work so I went looking for another answer to the problem.

Looking over the WIKI for epg enhancement utilities I ran across EPGExtra. It looked like an easy install so I gave it shot even though it's not listed as compatible with the last couple GBPVR versions. It works fine with GBPVR 1.2.13! Smile

It's showing the year, movie stars, MPAA rating, HD, and Stereo but it doesn't seem to be showing the new or repeat information but I dunno if Schedules Direct is sending that data or not as I can't find anything on schedules direct that details what is contained in the raw data.

Anyone know if that data is being sent? If so I'll see if I can get ahold of the author and plead/beg him to update the utility to provide that.

It's a VERY easy install and I would recommend it to anyone using Schedules Direct and wishing to expand their epg information.

I went looking for UBU, the author of the EPGExtra plugin. I noticed he hasn't checked in here for a month but I noticed he had a home page listed, http://www.ubusys.com, so I thought I'd surf over there and see if he had an email address or something.

When I clicked on the link to his home page my browser started to load the page but then stopped and popped up a warning that there was a trojan on the page  .

I dropped him a note via the pm here on the forums, but if anyone has a direct email for him you may want to let him know he may want to look at his home page for a bug (hopefully it's just my virus scanner being over zeralous, but better safe than sorry!).

ultraXmltv MANAGER is not being supported however ultraXmltTv is. IMO it is easier to use than epgextra since its a gui - plus it does internet lookups on movies and series for extra data as well, and does the new marker correctly.

It's only quirk is that you need to set the recording service to interact with desktop for it to function unattended correctly.

I guess I was thrown off because it said the Manager was the cornerstone of the set of utilities. I figured if the conerstone isn't supported it wouldn't bode well for the rest of the set!

EPGExtra is unbelievably easy to install and works fine with the exception of evidently not picking up the new/repeat flags Hopefully we can talk Ubu into fixing that though I saw in a search that I did that he's started a new job and his time is limited. He freely offers source code though, so maybe we could get another programmer to look at it.

Anyway, UltraXML looks like it's more configurable so I may have to look at it too.

Years and Years ago I used to do some programming, mostly in C/C++ but also some machine language for some Texas Instruments and Motorola processors. I may have to try and wrestle those brain cells back out of retirement . . . if I haven't drowned them in alcohol by now! Smile

Depending on what information you are looking for you may be able to view it through the web interface to GBPVR (EWA) and the SchedulesDirect plugin utility for EWA.

Hmmm, I'll have to look at the EWA!

I looked at xmltv to grab the data so I can try UltraXML but alas the xmltv distro doesn't seem to have the grabber I need and I've got the flu tonight so I'm not up for a complicated sparsely documented install tonight . . . maybe it's a good time to go read up on the EWA!

Ubu's EPGExtra is extremely easy to install and works fine but it's not picking up the new/repeat flags . . . I really wish we could get a hold of him and see if we could talk him into fixing it!

Take Care,

Steve
