Just out of interest,

since the nasty Trojan got in the back door, and I hear Sub's away for 3 weeks, soon. When will we see the new front pages?

Will they still be @ GBPVR.com or now @ PVRX2.com?

Only me being nosey Big Grin

Cheers

You've probably noticed I'm not busting a gut to replace the current web front page. I'll fix it up some time in december when I'm back. I havnt started thinking about the new front page yet.

The website is pretty low on my priority list.

The new web server is still gbpvr.com, and I have no plans to change that. The app is still called GB-PVR. "pvrx2.exe" is just the name of one of the executables that make up GB-PVR, in same way GBPVRTray.exe, GBPVRConvert.exe etc are just parts of the overall "GB-PVR" application.

Hi Sub,

Quote:You've probably noticed I'm not busting a gut to replace the current web front page.

Indeed I have/had. I read a thread with interest after the Trojan struck, about looking at a new front end.

Yup, well it's your proggie and prerogative, obviously, BUT for my pennie's worth that seems a long way away.....

IMHO there wasn't much wrong with the old frontend, it said what it did on the tin :p

Have a good break

Cheers

Came to think of it. Why not a page with 2 buttons, forum and wiki and a picture showing the functionality. A picture says more that a 1000 words.
I will start working on the picture.....slowly.

Why not just have the www page go straight to the wiki? Change a little of the wiki front page text (ie, don't have it tell you to go to the web page to read about GB-PVR, you're already here), add a prominent link to the forum. Done.

That will look a lot better, and frees sub from any further worry about the web page until he's fixed all of our problems, made GB-PVR perfect, fixed the economy and brought world peace.

one argument againt the homepage redirection: only sub can change the frontpage, but every wiki user can change the wiki content. we have had one particular no-longer-user-but-still-hanging-here-around who has left the wiki in a mess on his last day here before getting banned...

This is my idea of a GBPVR web page.
Very simple....just one htm page edited in Blocknote. But it does the job.
Have a look at the version history...... I have collected over the years.
Changing the screenshots in the features page .... is easily done.
I will work some more on the PowerPoint system picture ..... just a mockup now.

Typical :-) No, I don't have Firefox installed......yet. LOL

I guess the page is too much for Sub....anyway.
