johnsonx42 has brought to my attention that there may be an issue with launching roms. I am awaiting logs to look into this. In the meantime I wondered if anyone else was using this version with or without issues?

Cheers

Here are the logs. First I attempted to run 3 games without my modified mame.ini file (which has the rom path coded). All complained that their ROMS were not found. Then I exited, restored my mame.ini file, and re-ran the same 3 games successfully.

The Gamezone entries in the logs look fine to me, but then I don't what I should be seeing.

ok, I do see the problem. Gamezone is not passing the -rompath parameter on the command line. I'm not sure why mame needs the -rompath parameter, since the rom is being specified by full path name, but there you go.

Just as a sanity check, I ran the following command copied from the log:

Code:
C:\Arcade Files\mame128\Mame.exe  "C:\Arcade Files\roms\1942.zip" -skip_gameinfo -screen_aspect 4:3 -mouse

which failed the same way, so I did this:

Code:
C:\Arcade Files\mame128\Mame.exe  "C:\Arcade Files\roms\1942.zip" -skip_gameinfo -screen_aspect 4:3 -mouse -rompath "C:\Arcade Files\roms"

and it worked.

For any version of mame I've ever messed with, it would be most correct to specify the rom name alone, with no path or extension, and specify the -rompath so mame knows where to go looking for the file.

Thusly:

Code:
C:\Arcade Files\mame128\Mame.exe  1942 -skip_gameinfo -screen_aspect 4:3 -mouse -rompath "C:\Arcade Files\roms"

I suppose mame should just follow the path specified with the rom file, but at least today it doesn't.

I went ahead and installed GameZone 2.9, same problem, it doesn't pass the -rompath parameter.

Log attached.

I know that feeling, I got in the dog house for spending time changing it as I was suppossed to be spending time with the family Sad

Hopefully it should work, wondering when it changed in Mame that it became more pedantic.

Cheers

Yep, it seems to work just fine. Passing the rom name and then -rompath should work for any vaguely recent version of mame, perhaps all versions.

Thanks idkpmiller, your great plugin will be one of the key features of my soon to be completed gbpvr box. I can't wait to play Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on a 61" screen with wireless game pads.

Also, while I haven't tested absolutely every aspect yet, I think you can safely change the link title in your signature to "GameZone v2.9 - PVRx2 1.3.7 compatible!'
