How many Hauppauge 2250 can be used at one time?

Inquiring minds wanna know.

Thinking of using up to 3 of the Hauppauge 2250 tuner cards, but want to make sure GBPVR can support them all at once. Looks like my current MB only has 2 free PCIe slots, but might replace it to go all 2250s. Just nice to not have to mix drivers.

Might go with a couple 1600s if need be. Just want to get up to being able to record at least 6, 8 prefered, shows at once with at least 4 HD tuners.

Do the 2250's and 1600's play nice?

Well after scouting for motherboards, it appears the most PCIe slots I can find in any MB is 4 with that many they're just to pricey.

So, 3 slots, 1 being used by the video card looks like my limit.

So, do the 1600s and and 2250s play nice? Anyone know?

I have one of each but have them in 2 systems (the PCIe problem). I would think they should work well though I can tell you I had one heck of a time getting my 2250 drivers to install. For reasons above my pay grade the included .inf file had the wrong subID and I had to fix that file to get it to install. Hauppauge never told me anything was wrong but the shspvr forum was a big help.
I think it should work just fine.

I have an HVR-1600 and I've found it to be very picky on it's signal. Doing research on the issue I've found many others having the same probelm. Interestingly enough it appears the HVR-1800 works better. I thought it was basically the same as the 1600 with a pci-e interface, but it appears there's more to it than that. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend the HVR-1600 for qam use (though in some limited playing it's done well with over the air digital broadcasts).

I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard (current model is GA-EP35-DS3L) that I paid $90 for. It has 3 regular PCI slots, 3 PCIe X1 slots, and 1 PCIe X16 slot. I've been very happy with this motherboard.

I have a video card in the X16 slot, two HVR-1600's in the PCI slots, a Compro FM tuner card in the third PCI slot, and a firewire adapter in one of the PCIe X1 slots. So, I have two PCIe X1 slots open and am thinking of adding a HVR-2250 to my system.

Agreed! I spent over a month trying to get my HVR-1600's to work with Comcast cable, and could never get a reliable signal lock. The HVR-1600's have worked great with an outdoor antenna though.

I have 2 of the 2250 cards in my machine. Bought the mother board specifically because it had 2 pcie x1 slots, and 2 pcie x16 slots.
Seems to run fine. Had one bad card and sent it back. Borrowed another 2250 from a buddy of mine, and have not had any issues.
I only record analog though. Don't know if there are any "free" digital channels where I am at, and with the current bug where you can't split a card, I decided to leave well enough alone.
Since there are no driver conflicts for 2, I am betting 3 should work fine.
Though there may be mb issues, as I have read about 1 or two that would not handle multiple cards due to design limitations, where a card was too wide or what have you.
