Hi. Doing some research for wiki, and I'm also making a tool to help some values in the config.xml

So far I have a handle on Zoom and Aspect ratios,

But I'm having a hard time grasping how overscan is implemented.

For what are the Overscan values used? Video playback, GUI and menus

Are these values used and calculated before or after the zoom and apsect ratio..?

The overscan settings are used to compensate for TVs with too much overscan. In effect it forces the app to use a slightly smaller area of the screen (because the outside edges are off the screen). You can tell the app to apply this underscanning to just the menus, or to the video aswell.

And how would that be different than Zoom with a negative value?

Zoom only relates to video. This overscan functionality was primarily designed for users with old CRT TVs that found that some parts of their menus were off the side of the TV.

Do Zoom and Overscan work together? And if so, in which order are they applied?

Zoom is applied to video playing in the "current video window". The "current video window" is either the size of the complete PVRX2.exe window, or can be slightly less if the overscan settings are set (and include the setting to apply overscan to video also).

THanks. And what kind of max values do you (or is it Video Card and/or the CRTs) allow?
