i was on the lookout for somthing other than win tv when i found gbpvr which appears to be far better but i am struggling to set it up.

i installed v1.3.7 and have the hvr-1300 card. i would only really like to see the video input of the card rather than the analogue or digital.

i have followed the on site manual but i am not sure what i doing wrong - when i select live tv it blips very quickly but remains at the live tv option (no screen appears)

i also did the mux check and i dont have any even thou runmning xp sp3.

its probably somthing really basic i've missed but any help would be most appreciated.
thank you.

Even if you only intend to use the svideo/composite inputs of the card you still need to setup a capture source. If its going to be receiving channels through that input, from a cable/satellite set top box etc, then its recommended you still setup a real EPG Source, but if you really just want to see these inputs with out an EPG, then you can set the capture source EPG Source to 'none' and manually create a channel called something like 'av1' or 'svideo' or similar. It'll be listed as a channel in the tv guide or accessable as a channel in live tv.

thanks sub,

i have already set up some sources whilst messing with the software but not sure i am doing it right - does the live tv problem reflect bad setup?

here is what i've set sources to:

1 rec source: analog recording plugin
epg:none
chn chg: none reqd

rec source is set as follows:
card:hauppage hvr-1300(analog)
country:uk
board no.:capture device#1
source:internal tuner
tuning:antenna

there are a variety of options under source (all external tuners) s-vid, composite etc.

not sure where i'm going wrong.

it would be a bonus to set up both the analog and video in.

what do you select for epg source? where do you get the info/file?

also i believe this card is bda byt i cannot see any ref to that anywhere.

hope all that helps a bit more
thanks

When you setup your capture source, you need to have setup at least one channel. Did you do this?

It depends where you are and what channels you receive. Most people in the UK use the radio times xmltv from http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

Yes, this card also does DVB-T. You can setup a digital capture source in GB-PVR for this.

sub ...no i have not knowingly set up any chns, i cannot see where to do under the caption source tab and i cannot see any under the chns tab.

how i set up to differentiate between the analog rf tuner and the video in?

would i have to set up 2 different channels with different settings?

thanks for the other info on epg....

sub, got the composite going too, it was the external tuner.

i had set the epg sources to none which caused me a problem only when i went into the source settings did i see the chn settings, managed to get the epg files too, bit premature i know.. i think i'm blinded by hills even when digital eventually does come....

many thanks for all your help,

great bit of software too!

cheers

if you know of any basic settings in gbpvr that should be changed for best performance with the hvr 1300 i would be indebted (as you probably guessed i am a novice in this bit of kit)

cheers
