Folks
With Martins fantastic help got my session working from HDX1000 to my Vista Premium server.

Am now trying to play music files that are located on my HDX1000 internal hard drive. I have set the config options in GB-PVR to point at the directories on the HDX HD (Z:Music) and PVRX2 sees the directory (Music 2) and plays the music files (wav) fine.

However .. when I go to the menu on the mvpmc NMT I can see the directory (defined as Music 2) but it does not appear to see any of the music folders underneath that directory (select does not do anything)

Thoughts?

Cheers

so this is music on the hdx1000 that you want gbpvr to show you??

Did martin get you to change the login account of the GBPVR Recording service?? If not, you will have to change that to a local user account. Most system accounts (local system) are not allowed to access the network...

psycik thanks for the reply ..

yes the music files are on the hard drive in the HDX 1000 .. I can see and play them no problems using "native" HDX menus, I can see and play them fine using PVRX2 on my Vista server but when I fire up mvpmcx2 from the HDX1000 .. I can see the main directory on the HDX 100 but cannot navigate down to the music (albums) directories (nothing happens when I hit enter)

Far as I remember we did not change anything Recording Service .. Where is the user account defined?

Yours

I use xp and not vista so you milage may vary, but in the control panel, in services, right click on the GBPVR recording service and there should be a login tab. Set this user to a regular (administrator) user.

You may also be able to get to services by going Start | run | services.msc

What you likely need to do is follow psycik's instructions, change to run as local user with username nmt and password 1234 and change config.xml to point to \\##.##.##.## which is the ip of your HDX instead of using Z:

Any video files stored on you HDX will actually (in theory) play locally instead of being streamed by GBPVR. Audio files however will be transferred to GBPVR and back again.

OK . Found the services option (is under Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services) and changed the Log On to my account .(administrator). Restarted the GBPVR Recording Service

Stared HDX1000 and mvpmcx2 on the NMT. Same issue
I can see the main directory on the HDX1000 (called Music 2) but when I hit enter .. nothing happens ...
(for the record when I choose the music directory on my server Music 1 I see all the album art for the 400+ albums on the hard drive) ...

For test purposes I have ripped 3 albums into the Music directory on the HDX 1000 which is what I am expecting to see .. PVRX2 on the server can access the Music 2 directory on the HDX1000, see albums etc just fine

Hi Martin
OK ...

Vista doesnt allow me to change the GBPVR Log On to "nmt etc" It tells me the account name is invalid or doesnt exist ..

Changed the config.xml in \\123.234.1.15\Music ...

The only change was that PVRX2 could no longer access the Music 2 albums.

mvpmcx2 still behaves the same .. shows me the directory but doesnt seem to see albums under that

Did you try creating a local account for user nmt? Alternatively, you can try the utility that UJB wrote about here http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=2

I personally solve this by creating guest share access on the NMT as discussed here http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=5940 It's more difficult but makes life easier for people like me that aren't paranoid about private home lan security.

OK .. I used the second option in that suggestion ..

Not really sure what I was supposed to see but followed the step by step and it all appeared to work ..

Question - How do I test that the guest share is working?

However the result in mvpmcx2 is the same .. I can see the music folder but nothing happens when I hit enter..

Incidental .. do I need to change the recording service logon back to its default settings?

Also .. slightly off topic .. at the moment to start mvpmcx2 I do the following

select media source->network browser->(my LAN workgroup name)->(my server name)->mvpmc->file view->GB-PVR.htm->GBPVR via Network Browser

Eight steps to get running ... Is there a quicker way to get to mvpmcx2?

Cheers (and thanks)
