Hello, just purchased the pinnacle PCTV HD mini stick, is connects through USB 2.0. Is there a way I can get the gbpvr software to work with this? I'm new to this whole thing. The software that came with the mini stick does not allow scheduled recording. I'm using Windows XP and have all the latest updates. Thanks for your help!

It should work with GB-PVR. What happen problem did you encounter when you tried?

I'm new to this and don't know where to go to start. I found the place where I choose the pinnacle PCTV HD option, but how do I scan for channels? I ran the Mux checker and get this message: "GB-PVR will not function correctly unless you have WinXP SP1 or higher, which has a built-in DVR-MS mux filter." It tells me I don't have that but I have installed all the windows updates. Is this affecting it? Is there a step by step setup guide for dummies?

When you setup your capture source, you need to hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels', then it'll start the scan.

Just ignore this. 1.3.7 has the TS Mux built in, which should be fine for you.

It varies from country to country, with different sources of EPG information, different broadcasts systems etc. In general though, you need to setup a capture source, including finding an appropriate EPG source for your country (SchedulesDirect & mc2xml a common options in North America), then do the 'map digital channels to epg channels' step. After that you should be good to go.

Okay, I think we are making progress. I have updated the EPG and have the channel listings. When I click on "map digital channels to epg channels" I get an error message titled Microsoft .NET Framework it says: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Behind that error message is another message that states: GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly and not already in use. (Reason: failed to locate configured BCA capture device.)

What do I do now?

Thanks so much!

Zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Also run the filtercheck.exe utility, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log.

Zip and post your config.exe.log and your config.exe-native.log showing the crash. Also run Filtercheck.exe and post the resulting filtercheck.log.

Here are the log files. There were more than one with the names you gave so I included them all. Hope I did it correctly.

Thanks!

Did the log files help determine what the problem is?

Try adding this to your bda.ini file, and setup a capture source that selects this device:

[Pinnacle 80e]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=PCTV 80e TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=PCTV 80e Device
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
