A bit like "My dog ate my homework" I suppose. Smile

I spotted an episode of The Simpsons I hadn't seen (one of the few) and decided to set a Season recording (all episodes this channel) in case there were any others.

I stepped down to the 'Record' button, pressed OK on the MVP remote.....pause of about 5 seconds and then the MVP rebooted itself. It spent a while 'Contacting servers...' then showed it failed to locate the GUI server and then finally came up with the Main Menu.

Looking at the Pending recordings, it managed to schedule them OK (I think).

Log included (it was around 06:17:30) - it shows two exceptions where the DB is locked.

Cheers,
Brian

I think it must be the pixies.

I occasionally get this with the MVP, PCH and client PC's - database locked and controlling device hangs or crashes. Sadly, I've never found a cause or cure and it happens fairly rarely now. I don't think any logging is available with the third party sql server to see what leads up to it. (plus I guess it would create a ginormous log file).

No magic here. The MVP didn't receive a response in thirty seconds to a heartbeat from 06:17:14.481 and it reset 06:17:43.324 mvpmc doesn't have this limit and the PCH has much better networking so it is rarer still.

Its certainly caused by the database lock. Unfortunately the SQL statements in the logs near it dont seem to be the cause, so I can only assume it was one of the other processes that caused the lock condition to occur. If you've got a full set of logs I'll see if I can see the cause. There is a some known bugs in the SQLite provider that can also cause bug, which might be the culprit.

If you look carefully the lock occurs after a new UDP session is requested, the client died before 06:17:43.32 and there were many heartbeat issues before this.

I ran a full backup of logs and DB a few minutes after it happened so the attached should be a complete snapshot of the logs as they were.

I haven't had any problems I can think of with the MVP for quite a few versions of gb-pvr now so this one surprised me.
