OK,

I have ATI Theater Pro 650 PCI version. Installed GBPVR 1.3.7. Ran the latest WDM drivers from the ATI website.

I had used previous version of GBPVR successfully last year but haven't touched it since I built my new HTPC this month. So I know this card was capable of live preview before with GBPVR.

So my problem is this:
Live preview of ATSC channels has audio but does not have any video. I had this problem also with my other PC which I recently pulled this card from. I recorded a 30 second file in GBPVR to test with and opened it in Media Player Classic. The video WAS working when I viewed that file.

Does anyone know why I can't get the live preview to work? I installed the CMC software that came with the card to test it and it plays live tv okay in that application.

It'll probably be related to the MPEG2 video decoder you're using. What one do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app? and which others have you tried?

I have chosen every one of them systematically checking... for all of them, none of the ATSC channels have video... except I randomly chose a SD feed from a ATSC channel and it showed the VIDEO. once i moved to an HD feed again no video.

This SD feed worked with "Cyberlink Video SP/Decoder", ""ffdshow Video Decoder" ,& "MPEG Video Decoder".

I'm about to cycle through the MUXs and see if there's any change.

Try doing live tv using the ffdshow decoder, then post the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I just disabled the live preview and now can see the HD channels also. Heavy processor usage and stutters though.. .going to try one of the other decoders now...

What might be doing this to live preview?

Maybe I'll just keep this thread specifically about the live preview. Any suggestions on how live preview being ON blocks any HD video from appearing on screen?

I'll have to start another thread for these new other problems I am now experiencing:
1-stuttering audio&video every 1-2 seconds
2-on every 1-3 changes of the channel, i'll be kicked back to the main menu
3-heavy CPU usage, both CPUs in dual 5400+ running at around 50%? is this normal?

Both of those sets of logs show the MPEG Video Decoder being used (ffdshow was not available). You might need to add "pvrx2.exe" to the list of apps that ffdshow will work with (in ffdshow settings).

You might need to increase the live tv pre-play delay. Worth noting though, with TS Mux, there was a patch posted that was needed to make the live tv pre-play delay happen.

The CPU usage will come down to the decoders you're using (and whether the decoders and video card will do hardware accelleration etc).

do i have to apply a patch or can i just update the value in the config.exe?

Hmm.. okay added in ffdshow config... it seems to be operational now. Which log statement indicates whether it is or is not being used?
