I've got my DVD's set up in folders like...

\\Computer\Movies\Dvds\Movie Name\VIDEO_TS

MovieWiz sees everything fine and I have setup the database, complete with movie art and descriptions. When I did a search, MovieWiz located the DVD's and then recorded the location as

\\Computer\Movies\Dvds\Movie Name.DVD

However, whenever I select a movie on the TV it tells me that the movie does not exist and asks me if I would like to mark it offline.

I can play these movies if I play them straight from the PCH but if I try to play them through GBPVR I get the error mentioned above.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. Or does the PCH not work with MovieWiz?

I don't have a PCH, so I may need some help here from folks who do have them...

First, does MovieWiz play regular recordings on the PCH ok?
If so, are these mapped the same way (ie with UNC \\server\\dir\file...)?

If both above are true, then I think it must have something to do with how GBPVR and the PCH plays DVDs.

You might try it and post your log file, perhaps something will show up...

I think you are on to something.

Using the PCH's interface I can map my network drive with the PCH, then browse the folders with DVD's, select a DVD and play it.

It appears that the PCH can't see folder when I access it from GBPVR. It must be something with how the PCH interprets that path. It also will not work when I define that path in the video folder. After I do this it locks up when I try to go to the in to the Video submenu in GBPVR.

To play a DVD using GBPVR on the PCH you have to do some mapping in the startup. Assuming that \\Computer is your sharename (which likely won't resolve on the PCH) I would add a variation on

mkdir /mnt/\\\\Computer
mount -t cifs //##.##.##.##/Computer /mnt/\\\\Computer -o username=xx,password=xx,ro

Thanks Martin

I still have something not quite right.

My computer is named "Intelquad" my share name is "Movies" my directory name is "DVD's", under this I have all the movie names with the VIDEO_TS folders under that.

I played around with this and tried to mount this a couple of different ways. I can now see that I have the following when I telnet in to the PCH and look under mnt

//Intelquad
//Intelquad/Movies

However if I try to watch a movie with MovieWiz it attempts to access the directory and fails. I'm not sure if it is the way that MovieWiz is passing the path to the PCH or if I still have something wrong with my mount. I guess it might be possible that the apostrophe in DVD's is throwing it off...

What you are seeing in /mnt won't match what GBPVR sends. Assuming you are using the named server and not an IP or a mapped drive letter in GBPVR you would need

mkdir /mnt/\\\\Intelquad\\Movies
mount -t cifs //##.##.##.##/Movies /mnt/\\\\Intelquad\\Movies -o username=xx,password=xx,ro

from telnet if you run

find /mnt/\\\\Intelquad\\Movies

you should see all your videos. If you do but that doesn't work compress and upload your GBPVR logs and I can check further.

I made some progress, but still not working.

First I used the lines you gave me in my script and after that I could see the movies via telnet with find /mnt/\\\\Intelquad\\Movies

However MovieWiz still reported the Movie was offline. I then tried adding the path to the Video Library. I noticed that after doing that I could see the folder but not open it when I looked in the Video Library. I also noticed that I could see and play videos in the Video Library that were on a different server \\Tera\share\Videos This sever by the way is a Terastation that runs on Linux. I got an idea and I moved one movie over to \\Tera\share\Movies and I could see this movie in the Video Library as Movie.DVD but it would not play. Changing my script I had the PCH mount this drive as well. I can now play this DVD in the Video Library. However, after updating MovieWiz with the new movie location it still does not work. It no longer tells me the movie is offline it just does not do any thing and bounces back to the MovieWiz main menu.

So it looks like I'm down to 2 problems. One is why can't I get into the //Intelquad/Movies which is attached to a Windows Vista PC. I can play these movies directly from the PCH menu and I can also see these files from a computer that has no password on it, so it seems like it is not a file access thing. The only difference seems to be that the Terastation is running on Linux and it is doing its share with Linux.

The other problem is why can I play the DVD on the Terastation through the Video Library but not with MovieWiz?

Startup PVRX2, recreate problem then zip and post your logs. They are in the devnz/pvrx2/logs directory.

I've attached my logs. It looks like this is the key. Something is happening with the formatting of the string.

If this is a password protected share it won't mount in the local system account and you will have to run the GBPVRRecordingService as a user

If it uses guest access the name \\Tera is probably not being resolved. You could try \\xx.xx.xx.xx notation or add it to \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
