I'm running GB-PVR 1.3.7 on a headless server which is controlled only by MediaMVPs or a client PC and Config is run via VNC from a client PC - I do NOT need a remote to control GB-PVR.

To blast my set-top box I tried to use HIP. Configuring it apparently requires PVRX2 to be running but the server's onboard graphics are just VGA and based on an ATi ES1000 so I wasn't too surprised when PVRX2 just opened a "transparent" window frame (across VNC).

Having now added an ATi HD2350 card (at x4) I still get just a transparent window frame! ATi Catalyst reports DirectX at 9.0c on 256MB and dxdiag reports 2D Driver, Direct3D and OpenGL all at 6.14.10.nnnn

All I need is the ability for GB-PVR to blast an SL65 set-top satbox but I seem to be digging an ever-deeper hole and would appreciate a clue or two. Apologies for posting on wrong forum if this isn't a hardware/driver issue.

you have to add 0-9 to 'system-wide keys', then go to preferences, ir output - edit ircodes and add a remote, and program it by sending from cmd window "hipwsend #" for numbers 0-9 as the 'remote' key to learn...
meaning, learn the keys as hip would see them when gbpvr is blasting them [from hipwsend program]

oh, and it doesn't need pvrx2 open to program blasting...just the hipwsend # source..plus, you already have a pvrx2 open for mvp server if it did..Smile

hope that makes sense...Big Grin

You might need to go into Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, then view the properties of the 'GBPVR Recording Serivce' and enable the 'allow service to interact with desktop'.

Thanks for responses. I've fumbled my way through to the bits mentioned but need more clues as I'm afraid I didn't make sense of it all.

I switched on the "Use with Keyboard" to add 0-9 to 'system-wide keys' on the Alternate Input tab of preferences (specifying Generic Device) and saved the .hip file.

The only Output Device available on the IR Output tab is the MCE Interface so I selected that (see sig) but got nowhere trying to add codes to the remote I created except by using my STB remote sending to the MCE beanbag. Testing the IR codes does send them to the blaster and the STB responds!

My assumption is that HIP now knows the IR codes my STB recognises for each digit and GBPVR will be sending those digits through the interface so, given that I still can't change channel from MVP or client, I've obviously not understood the purpose of the "hipwsend n" command in the way you describe it or how to get HIP to recognise it.

I've set the GBPVR config to use the hipwsend exe channel changer and the GBPVR recording service was already set to interact with desktop - must have found it suggested during earlier struggles.

Still got the problem that I can't use PVRX2 to view on the server but perhaps that's for another day.

If you reproduce the problem, then zip and attached the logs, I can check that GB-PVR is playing its part by running your configured .exe channel changer.

well you got the first part going, good...now just have to assign those 'blaster' entries to respond to a 'remote' [hipwsend]
go back to prefs/'alternate input' and 'add value', open cmd window and type 'hipwsend 0', then again to confirm...in next dialog, click the little keyboard and select 'send ir' for the command to execute, and select the '0 you made earlier...
[resultant command should look like "?1.001" for digit '1', "?10.001" for digit '0']

and do same for the rest of the digits 0-9

let me know how you get on with that...a screenshot of alternate input screen would help if you don't get it going...

Thanks for assistance and apologies for taking so long to get back.

Had several attempts and fresh starts but things aren't improving and I may be causing problems rather than resolving them.

Testing IR codes is fine (but can't test the zero) and the server beeps when outputting to the blaster.

Attempting to "watch" via the TV Guide on the client PC apparently does nothing. Attempting to change channel from there causes PVRX2 to crash.

I've cut the pad -3 from the command for most recent attempts.

Logs and screenshot of HIP's Alternate Input attached in zips.

Those logs dont show an attempt to do this. You need to zip the logs immediately after reproducing the problem.

Sorry about faulty logs - I had failed to include the clientPC logs. I purged some logs with numeric additions to filenames in the hope of making things simpler - but maybe it doesn't.

Attached are logs from client PC and from server after I'd tried to "watch" and change channels (and then used Task Manager to kill the non-responding PVRX2 application on the client). I then stopped recording services and closed GBPVR so that logs were not held open.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. The logs dont show any obvious error.
