So I have GBPVR installed and i have set up my EPG with schedules direct, but i cannot access the live tv function and I cannot watch tv. I have a Hauppauge HVR850 it plugs into the usb on my laptop and I have a motorolla stb connected to that. I have video in via VGA to my tv. I am not sure what I need to do in order to change the channel on my stb but i know it has a remote, but i am still unable to pick up any signal in gbpvr. If i use the software that came with the hvr i can pickup one signal on channel 3 and i can use my comcast remote to change the channel. Please help!

The analog side of this device wont work due to the lack of hardware MPEG2 encoder. The digital side should work. If you're trying to use the digital side, did you do the 'map digital channels to epg channels' step to map your channels?

For a digital device it doesnt. What you're describing is trying to capture the analog output of a set top box, but you cant do this with your device with GB-PVR.

Instead you're supposed to directly feed it an ATSC signal from an antenna. Some devices also support unencrypted digital cable channels, but I dont think the HVR-850 does. (if it did, it'd need a direct cable feed rather than output of set top box)

The STB uses an analogue connection, so as sub said - you can't use it.

If you do get an analogue capture card with hardware encoder, then you could use something like a USBUIRT to teach GBPVR your comcast remote signals, which would then blast them to the STB as needed.

Do you have an antenna you can try? (not the one which comes with the usb stick, like roof mounted) that might give you the ability to tune the ATSC stations.
How are you connecting your STB to the tuner?

What about an external tuning device that will change the channels on my dct700?

But you can't get the signal into the PC using the device you currently have, as thius device will only work in GBPVR with the digital side (ATSC via antenna)

You could try looking on the wiki for the graphrecorder - but that plugin might be broken in the latest version. (http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki)

No I dont have another antenna other than the one that came with the stick. The cable in comes to the box via coaxial cable, and it leaves the box via a coaxial cable. It is plugged into my tv and I use the comcast remote to change the channels. When i connect it to the hvr stick i unplug it from the tv and plug it into the stick.
