2009-03-05, 10:49 AM (This post was last modified: 2009-03-05, 10:55 AM by johnsonx42.)
I just discovered that my tv guide has "No Show Details" for the 7:00pm to 8:00pm time slot on all channels for Saturday, March 7th. All other timeslots are populated for the next 11 days (including the same timeslot next saturday, the 14th).

My epg source is Schedules Direct.

I observed this both before and after the 2:00am EPG update. I also tried forcing an update (at about 2:35am) from the System menu in PVRX2 with no change.

What could cause this? What would I even look at to troubleshoot this? The recording service log doesn't show anything interesting, but I attached the two parts that cover the epg update time.

edit: added pvrx2 log covering manual epg update as well, just in case...

Do you think this could have anything to do with the time change this weekend?

yes, now that you mention it, I suppose it must. But the 'lost' hour for the time change should be from 2am to 3am Sunday. If my lost hour had been at 2am sunday, I would have known exactly what is was, but we all know there will in fact be a 7PM on saturday!

I just compared against the schedule at TVGuide.com, and the shows GB-PVR list for 8:00pm will actually be on at 7:00pm.

Something must be getting lost in translation between Schedules Direct and GB-PVR. It likely has to do with timezone conversion between UTC time and Pacific local/daylight time.

more like the transition from Tribune Media...they always muck up the time change....
sometimes i wonder if there are monkeys workin over there...Smile
[tho i have to admit, they have gotten lots better past couple years]
look for changes on the coming days as i'm sure it will change a few more times leading up to the changeover hour...

best to check just after the epg update on the day of....

so we're not blaming sub again? I let sub off the hook once last year, and now I have to do it again and it's only March? hmmmm....

Can I guess that you have an offset in your programme string?
Code:
    <programme start="20090316024600 -0600" stop="20090316030900 -0600" channel="I39.28455607.microsoft.com">

Way too tired to do the math, just not tired enough to guess...

I think maybe you're too tired for me to understand what you're asking? I recall that when I setup schedules direct in config there's an option for an offset, with a warning to leave it at zero unless you know you need to change it... I left it at zero.

I have the same SD gap. I wonder if maybe the gap is 2-3am GMT or something, and they aren't adjusting per timezone. I'm too tired to try and figure if the math actually works out on that.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the gap is at 2-3am gmt. Normal pacific time is GMT-8. Pacific Daylight Time is GMT-7. 2am to 3am GMT is 7pm-8pm PDT.

I tend to think the problem is something with the way GB-PVR is loading the data; it seems unlikely to me that the problem is with the data coming from Schedules Direct. I have no way to know, and sub hasn't piped in here. I guess the problem will fix itself at 2am on Sunday morning, but everything will be wrong for the intervening 7 hours.

I could probably work around it manually by bumping the system clock ahead an hour just before 7pm on Saturday, and tell windows not to adjust the clock for DST itself.

I'll see whether anything changes with tonight's EPG update.

Opps, you already said that above. Mea culpa. I wasn't really looking for "UTC" when I posted.

I don't know where the problem arises. SD is still new, they could easily have some glitches of their own, and pBS seems to recall past Tribune (SD's source?) time change errors. Alternatively, you and I might have some gbpvr setting arwy on our own--which I gather is what zehd is getting at, though I'm not sure where to look for what he quoted, or what it means. There are plenty of SD-using GBPVR users here, and not an impressive number of "me toos" in this thread. Maybe we're in small company.

As an alternative to messing with your clock at just the right time, you could just add an hour of buffer time to recordings that occur in that gap. If there aren't that many recordings, that would seem the easiest and safest way.

I'd post on SD's forums, but I'm not really sure what my forum login is. I don't really care about this change, but it would be nice if I didn't have to keep a watchful eye on it twice every year.
