I recently added a NAS to my network in hopes of creating a gigantic movie vault. I have close to 500 movies that used to exist on the GB-PVR local hard drive...they are now on the NAS. Is there a "quick" way to change the file location to point at the new location of the movies? From what I can tell, the only solution is to re-import all the titles (which would take forever).

I'm assuming the db3 file is dBaseIII? I tried to open the database with various program, using ODBC, but I cannot. Can you recommend a db program that will allow me to edit the db3 filemyself?

Actually it is SqlLite. You can download database browser from http://sqlitebrowser.sourceforge.net/

Good Luck

First BACKUP your current MovieWiz.db3 file! I also suggest doing a full export (described in 1st options) so you have a copy of all your data.

Two ways to do this:
  1. Export information out of current db, edit the export xml file, then re-import.
    • Go to the Manage Content tab
    • Lower right, click the 1 File check box
    • Click "Export All"
    • Exit the config program
    • RENAME MovieWiz.DB3 to MovieWiz.DB3.Orig
    • COPY MovieWizEmpty.db3 to MovieWiz.db3. You now have an empty database read for import of new data.
    • Manually edit the MovieWiz_Recordings.xml file from above step. The xml <filename> and <imageSourceLocation> tags will need to be changed to point to new location.
    • Back in the MovieWiz config program, go to the Add Content tab
    • Click Import and select the xml file you edited.
    • Your db should now have all your movies again.
  2. Use the Archive/Sync function to repoint entries to the new location.
    • Go to the Plugin Settings tab.
    • Add a new Archive Location. Enter the name of your new location (ie NAS drive and directory) where your file(s) were moved to.
    • If they are down in subdirectories, check the Include SubDirs checkbox.
    • I think the best option is to mark missing entries as Offline.
    • Save your changes.
    • Go the the Manage Content tab.
    • Click "Sync Archived". The program will run thru the db, if it does not find any movie, it will attempt to locate that filename in the archive directories (and subdirs if checked). The filename MUST be exactly the same (ie no renames of the filename)

backforward...thank you. I downloaded the ODBC driver and used Access to make my changes. Everything works perfectly. FYI, the driver I used can be found here http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/.

JavaWiz...thank you as well. Although I didn't take your suggestions, it is nice to know those options are available. I love your plug-in, keep up the good work.
