I can't figure this one out - it happens often to be a PITA though... 1.3.11 - Nova-T 500 - UK Freeview...

I was watching live TV via the MVP. There was a recording scheduled to start at 17:00 with 5 mins pre-padding. A few seconds before 17:00 live TV gets kicked back to the main menu. The recording started OK, but with no pre-padding.

It looks like recordingservice decided to use tuner#2 for the recording - I can't figure out from the logs why tuner#1 wasn't available...

It'll use the capture sources top-down when schedulingrecording, or bottom-up for live tv. Usually this is enough to keep this situation from happening. Some times though, if you'd have a previous overlapping recording, it'd have need to schedule the second recording to use the second capture source, which is likely to be the one it'd have used for live tv. If you're not using multi-record, it'd try to move the recording to a free tuner rather than kick you out of live tv if you're using that capture source. With multi-record enabled things get much more complicated, and it wont attempt to move that recording from its scheduled capture source allocation.

Yep - I'm pretty comfortable with my understanding of how tuner allocation works (I'm not using multi-record - yet).

The problem here is that I'm fairly sure from the logs that live TV was using tuner#2 and since this was the first recording of the day, I am also sure that tuner#1 should have been free.

The recording is still in progress so I've just started live TV on the same channel as the recording and it's playing fine, so I know that tuner#1 can lock on to the recordiing channel - recording status is showing both tuners active on the same channel.

I'm just concerned that I might not have my tuners/system setup correctly.
