I have GB-PVR 1.3.7 installed on a Windows XP SP3 HTPC that has run well for many months. Over the last month I've had seemingly random occurrences where recordings are coming up short. Example: a 1-hour program only plays for 40 minutes, although the duration displayed is normal (1 hr). Example 2: a 1 hour program shows up after recording as 35 minutes duration and is indeed only that long.

Unfortunately I had logging set up only to report errors. Looking over the logs for the date of the last occurrence I see only the error "2009-03-24 19:52:33.500 ERROR [5] Found expired lease. Stopping recording." I saw others mention this error in forum posts, but in no case was there a reply as to just what this error means.

I'm really stumped. This has been a very stable system, and it is still very capable of performing full-length recordings. This problem appears randomly, and other than the aforementioned logged error I can't correlate it with anything. I've checked the Windows XP error logs too and see nothing.

Any suggestions as to where to look, what to check/test? Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior? Could my system be going to sleep in the middle of a recording? It normally goes to sleep with inactivity, but GBPVR's recording service should prevent this from occurring during a recoding, right?

Is it a digital recording? If so, what mux are you using?

Yes, this is digital recording (only) - ATSC through a Hauppauge HVR-1250.

The mux is unchanged from when it worked reliably:
Under BDA Multiplexer:
"Microsoft DVR-MS". "Enable Multi-Record support" is checked.

Next time it happens, post the logs, along with the name/time of the recording, and how much of it you got and I'll take a look.

I was afraid you were going to say that :-)

I've switched logging to "debug" and so will be better prepared for the next time. Thanks.

Well, it didn't take long to catch a failure, and I've attached a zip of the log folder. Here's the case:

American Dad 03/29/09 8:30-9:00 PM. Recording shows up as 15:37 duration, although it is a 30 minute show with 4 minutes of padding. Playback terminates at 15:37.

I looked at the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and it shows some messages pertaining to Comskip. I didn't think I was using this (intentionally) but running Config I see that "Comskip.exe from current directory" was selected under "Commercial Detection". Is this maybe a symptom of having Comskip enabled but not configured?
