Everyone has their preference for their PC screen resolution, but on what resolution was GBPVR designed to be displayed (for fonts, etc.)?

Now that I have GBPVR running, and I stumbled on a 15-pin M-M cable in my cable stash, I am considering going from composite video out to monitor out from my HTPC to my 46" LCD TV. What resolution is recommended?

you will always get the best picture on your tv/screen at the native resolution of that screen (hardware) if its a LCD regardless of what gbpvr is
also known as 1:1 pixel matching
it should say in the book what it is

The posts above are correct. Use the native resolution of your monitor. GB-PVR doesnt use any fixed font sizes designed for a particular resolution, and instead renders internally to the same resolution as your desktop.

The documentation for my TV doesn't specify a native resolution. It says it can accept inputs from a PC at 640 X 480, 800 X 600, 1024 X 768, 1280 X 768, 1360 X 768, 1280 X 1024 or 1920 X 1080 (which I believe is HD).

I am capturing analog NTSC from a STB (4X3 aspect ratio, probably resolves to 480i digitally).

Which (if any) of the above do you like/use most? Or maybe I should ask which would you expect to render 480i better than any of the others?

It's probably the 1920x1080. Was it sold as a Full HD capable set?

Anything from 1024x768 is considered "HD". Full HD is 1920x108o.

on my tv the 1:1 pixel mapping is called "HD size 2" (or HD size 1, can't remember), so when you look through your manual keep an eye out for different verbage that means the same thing.

If you can't output 1:1 to your tv, then send it either a 720 signal or a 1080 signal. It already knows what to do with those resolutions since thats what it processes when watching OTA/Cable HDTV.

If you give the model number of your set, somebody may be able to help out as well.

My TV gives the best quality image through HDMI when set to 1024x768. Unfortunately when set at that resolution although the image looks great DVB-T (Freeview) stutters terribly.

However if I set the TV resolution to 720x576 which is the same resolution as the DVB-T stream then there is no stutter but the image is not so crisp.

Has anyone got any ideas?
