I have been trying to add a HDHomeRun to my system, and keep running into the same problem. When I get to Map QAM Channels, I get a .Net Exception error message. I have edited the BDA.ini file, installed the patches in the 1.3.11 Survival Guide, and followed all instructions on the SiliconDust website. The tuner is working correctly as I can scan for channels and tune them using the HDHomeRun manager.

The other odd item here is that when I click the Quit button on the error dialog GB-PVR shuts down, and when I restart it I find that I know have two HDHomeRun tuners with the same name and configuration.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated here.

What does the error say?

There are two error dialogs that pop up. The first says:

"GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not already in use."

The second error dialog pops up almost immediately.

"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I would suspect my problem is with the first one, though I am not sure where I have gone off track.

OK, I think I found my problem. Call it cockpit error, I made a mistake when editing the BDA.ini file. GB-PVR is scanning on the first tuner as I type this.

I am having the exact same problem. What exactly was the edit problem in the BDA.INI file?

You should no longer need to edit the bda.ini, the latest HDHomeRun software should automatically do it if you select GBPVR as the application.

If it doesn't, post your device ID and I'll create the bda.ini entry for you to add.

With the last bunch of HDHR updates, you don't need to do anything. The update does it all for you.

Thanks for the replys,

I'm at work right now so I don't have access to the device ID's. I think I may need to do a fresh install of the hdhomerun and gbpvr software then try again. If this don't work I'll post the device id's and log files.

Greetings,

I downloaded the latest release of the HDhomerun software and after installing I was able to scan without errors. The problem now is I'm on a cable system and it only scans "scaning 1 - 2" when it should be scanning 1 of 138.

My bda.ini is configured as follows:

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1014041F-0]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1014041F-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1014041F-1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1014041F-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

HD homerun software scans 1 -138 and find 48 channels. But GBPVR only scans 1 - 2 and finds 8 channels.

I set tuning_special to 0 and it does scan for OTA channels 1 - 68 as it should.

I'm really stumped.

I attached my log files please help

The HDHomeRun software updates the qam.ini file so that GBPVR only scans the frequencies where the HDHomeRun scan finds channels. Make sure that you have the channels enabled in the HDHomeRun Setup that you want to find in the GBPVR scan.

You can reset the qam.ini to scan all channels using my QAM.ini manager (check the Netflix plugin sub-forum). You will need to use the "Center Frequencies" options for the HDHomeRun.
