I upgraded from 1.3.7 to 1.3.11 yesterday

I loaded the EPG and added recurring recordings.

today I could not get into the EPG and all recurring entries was lost - using the user account (a admin user) from where I installed)

I tried from another account and from that account I could get into the EPG but no data . from that user I could update EPG again. from this account all seems ok except for the reoccuring items I added yesterday is gone and the old ones are there.

And still in my normal account I cannot see anything in EPG and all recurring entries are lost in that account

what can the problem be?

I have Vista and also Windows MediaCenter but yesterday I deleted all scheduled recordings in Media Center.

I added my logs

Its not really clear what you're describing, but try deleting the Vista "C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz" directory, then try again.

I deleted in folder in all user accounts and now it worked

but Vista/GBPVR created a new folder and copied the database to
"C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR" directory.

and when I add a recording in EPG only the gbpvr.db3 in folder above is updated

gbpvr.db3 in c:/program files/devnz is not updated

this seems strange I will check with another user adding a recording to se which dbase changes

I just checked and the database in c:/program files/devnz/GBPVR is never updated regardless which of two users I use to add recording in EPG / PVRX2

for each user the database in
"C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR" directory.

is updated - this means that I can only have one user on this computer running PVRX2 and that the updated database is on folder:
"C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR"

is this the way it should work?
I thought that the database in c:/program files/devnz/GBPVR should be the master

I enclosed logs from
"C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR"

for 2 users

also when looking in system in PVRX2 I have free diskspace 0 GB even though there is space on HD - I do not know if this is connected to problem above,'

I searched for virtual store Vista and found this link

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/...d5892b7218

Vista has added som escurity function so that applications are not supposed to write to Program Files folder - but instead to virtual folder per user

I change security on some places so that users in Vista have change rights:
in c:/program files/devnz/GBPVR
I change rights for the folder and files underneath
and deleted everything in virtual folder:

"C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR" directory.

now I can use GBPVR from several users in the computer and only database in c:/program files/devnz/GBPVR is updated (and logs is updated also under program files...)

Maybe there is a better way to fix this?

Rather than installing into 'Program Files' try installing into for example
c:\0~apps\Devnz\GBPVR
This where I install GBPVR, just easier to access the folder here remotely for backup purposes and tweaking.

You can also just disable User Account Control. I usually advocate leaving UAC on for most users, but I've found some apps are just easier to deal with by turning off UAC. GB-PVR is a bit of a naughty app, in that it keeps database and config files in with the program files. That's been considered bad form for awhile, and is a definite no-no with Vista.

Installing the app outside of Program Files as CornStopper has done is another way that usually gets around UAC weirdness.

If you delete the virtual store directory, and set the permissions on the gbpvr.db3 file to allow full access you should be fine. The installer tries to set the permissions this way, but the occassional person comes across this problem.

GBPVR does have some other mechanisms for dealing with it other ways, like having all the user updated files outside of the "c:\program files" directory, but it was too much of a hassle to deal with upgrades from earlier versions that I didnt bother changing the installer to install this stuff elsewhere. Personally on my vista setup my database, logs, plugins, etc are all installed C:\Users\Public\GBPVR (with the other application files in their normal place).

I've just solved the same problem another way, when running PVRX2 I "run as administrator" and it works with no other changes, presumably as administrator is allow to write to the Program Files folder.

To permanently "run as administrator" right click on the PVRX2 short cut you use, perhaps it's the one on the start programs menu, select properties, then "Compatibility" and under "Privilege level" tick "Run this program as an administrator".
Each time you run PVRX2 you will get the UAC warning which you can "Allow", unless disable UAC altogether.
Adrian.

if I would install in C:/apps or elsewhere could there then be any future issues when upgrading?

if I want to separate database place to c:GBPVR where do I change that? - any future issues when upgrading ?
