Today things went better with testing then expected, and now I am ready to begin a wider public release. To get an idea of what to expect, check out this earlier thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=41809 if you haven't already

Upgrade Installation

- Download and replace mvpmcx2 with this new version http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/mvpmcx2h.7z Update Apr. 18

- Update GB-PVR with the attached files from sub

- Change the MVPClientType in config.xml to PCH2

Right now this is an upgrade only a full install guide will follow, probably with the next new GB-PVR version. If you haven't installed mvpmcx2 yet, follow the Dummies Guide instructions. Also note that HDMI is not supported at this time.

Note that OSD is a bit washed out in 720p mode 1080i/p mode does look better.

Usage

mvpmcx2 has always emulated an MVP but now this is complete. For those that haven't used an MVP before, the remote key reference is here http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...dReference The names on the remote keys are a little different as follows

Angle = Record
Source = Menu
Return = Back
Next = Skip
Prev = Replay
Repeat = Prev Channel (Different then in the earlier mvpmcx2)

Additionally based on the tester's feedback I did implement the NMT Video Zoom feature to toggle between "Full Screen", "Fit Screen" and "Crop"

Troubleshooting

The mvpmcx2 client is now a full media player when running with GB-PVR so in the initial release I do expect a few problems to come up. Please try and document the problem as best you can and open up a message on it with the messages.

If you find a problem mpeg ts file, that won't seek, play or plays without sound (and it isn't a HE-AAC file), please telnet to your PCH and issue the command cat /tmp/dumpts.txt and copy the output into a message on the forum. Keep the source video file because I might ask you to create a 20 MB SD or 100 MB HD snip and upload it to a free site like megaupload or rapidshare and provide a link.

One caution is that if the file time isn't very representative of the file, there probably are multiple timelines in the file so skipping won't work, but it might play and you might be able to use FF/RW through the file. I feel the best solution for these is to use TSMuXeR from http://smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html to fix the time.

Finally a big thanks to Sheik Yerbouti, BrainStormer, BrettB, dark_half, tcmy95 and lehanne, who really helped me get to this point. Of course sub helped a lot and he had to make significant changes to GB-PVR for the NMT, which probably will help mvpmc users too.

I look forward to reading about your experience good and bad.

Two words: Awe Some!!

I do miss the progress bar, but having the show info available during playback is great. Resume works perfect & skipping (so far) is much better than the PCH skipping.

Question: Do any of the PCH remote buttons map to "Guide"?

First impression is great!! I'm amazed at what you guys pulled off.

One more thing to add RE: skipping - I like that it uses GBPVR's skip for another reason - I really missed having a 15-sec skip back

Which progress bar the NMT one with all the info? You do get the GBPVR progress bar don't you?

Setup=Guide The hot keys haven't changed the are still the same as on the survival guide and wiki http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=9

Don't see the GBPVR status bar.

Pressing "info" doesn't give me anything, & pause just displays the program information...

Info is on the PCH, this is GBPVR. Blue is the Info button. Pause should also display it.

Thanks - I never play back recordings on my PC, I've strictly been a PCH user, so it's been a while since I've had GBPVR's OSD available.

Blue brings up the show info & status bar. Pause just the show info.

Had a couple of glitches if I get to skip happy - froze up after skipping a whole mess of times in a row & had to reboot the PCH.

I miss the % jump (didn't think I'd use it much when I first got it, but turned out to be a way to quicking jump ahead - used it a bunch when watching old baseball games). However if skipping continues to be pretty smooth, I may end up not using it as much (especially if I can get comskip going again - haven't used that in ages)

BTW - does comskip support HD-PVR recordings? Haven't followed it's development much since as an exclusive mvpmcx2 user - to this point - haven't been able to take advantage of it.

PS: None of this should be construed as disatisfaction - this is pretty impressive. Just providing feedback - you can do with it what you will Smile

If you want to jump ahead quickly, prefix the number of minutes before the skip key. For example, to jump forward 15 minutes, type '15 skip'.
