GBPVR does not detect card...

Card works with the default PVR software that came with it. This is a friends card that he wasn't using that I am just trying to see if I want to get into it. Works about as well as expected. On 90% of the channels the signal is better than I expected. A few channels not so great. No sound for some reason too. Anyways...

I cannot get GBPVR to recognize my capture device. I see it in a list of cards GB works with, and I can select that. But if I put a check in "Show only cards installed" or whatever it says, it gives an error that no cards are found. And if I manually setup, I cannot watch live TV.

Once I get this working, I would liek to ask (prob in another thread) what would be a good card for around $75-$100 but would like to make sure this is technology I really want to invest in.

Is that true? It shows it listed for cards. And I swear it has hardware MPEG, but maybe it does not.

Ahhh... I did not know there was a PVR and A WinTV version... so am I screwed from using this card with GBPVR?

If I am, its no big deal. The card came with software that seems to work, and free EPG stuff. Not as good I think, but it works.

If it will not work, I will just have to try the default stuff and see if I am even going to like DVRing and then find a better card.

Nah, the TV2000 is software encoding (i'm using the PVR2000) but you can try and use the graph recorder plugin to make it work

recording will be a bit of a drain on CPU with encoding & what-not but live TV should be OK.

And Media Portal isn't compatible with WinXP x64, which is my OS. What can I do? I don't even really want to record, just watch TV shows on my pc.

Sorry DefStatic, you're in the same boat - no hardware encoder, so not compatible with GB-PVR.
