Well it's been a long time sine I've messed with all this and I'm not having any luck with getting it going.
I have been running MCE 2005 on Dell Xps 410 and a WinTV-HVR-2250. Now I wanted to use GBPVR so i could record HD channels. I'm stuck trying to set up the EPG using MceEpg2XmlTv. When I try to use the GetProviders.bat I get this error - 6/16/2009 4:25:33 PM - Starting MceEpgDownloader (2005 Edition) v1.0.0.6
6/16/2009 4:25:33 PM - Preparing to retrieve headendlist
6/16/2009 4:25:33 PM - - Connecting.
6/16/2009 4:27:03 PM - - Error.

ERROR STATUS: ERSTATUS_XNGENERIC
ERROR STRING:
Here is the path where I have it all (C:\EPG\Graber)
Any help would be great Thanks.:mad:

I would say one of the updates has changed something. I'm no longer maintaining MceEPG2XmlTv, take a look at mc2xml. It works much faster and easier.

Maybe the web site was having problems. I just ran the Vista version to get my headend list and it worked fine:

6/16/2009 6:03:31 PM - Starting MceEpgDownloader (Vista Edition) v1.0.0.6
6/16/2009 6:03:31 PM - Preparing to retrieve headendlist

6/16/2009 6:03:32 PM - - Downloading.
6/16/2009 6:03:33 PM - - Complete.
6/16/2009 6:03:33 PM - 13 providers found.

It's still going strong here.

I thought you meant that the website had been altered so that MceEpgUp2Xmltv would no longer work. I was trying to say that maybe the site was experiencing temporary technical problems. Cool program. I used it in the UK and have dabbled with it back here in the U.S. a couple of times when setting up my GBPVR box. I ended up using mc2xml anyway. I just don't want mc2xml to become the only working free solution. I still use zap2xml on the wife's laptop to get data so she can use Freeguide to flag her favorites. And I check on yapi2xml every now and then. It worked as of Saturday, June 6th (a week and a half ago). So as of this moment in time, there are potentially 4 free listing "grabbers" that could work, including MceEpg2Xmltv.

PS: The free MSN XMLTV Scraper at Planet Replay sort of works. It gets show titles and times, but nothing else anymore. So there are five free alternatives for grabbing XMLTV data: mc2xml, zap2xml, yapi2xml, MSN_XMLTV_scraper_V.65.exe, and (if you have Windows Media Center installed) MceEpg2Xmltv.

That is actually what I meant. I was backtracking with my last post. Big Grin

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that it still works.
