Hi All

i have read a few other threads about this issue where the client will start live tv and stop it immediately but the response wsa that there had to be a FW in the way. in my case i can assure t his is not the problem.

i have 2 test XP machines side by side with clean installs and i can only get tv to the client in file share mode.

when in streaming mode the tv stream stops as soon as it starts. often not even long enough to get the OSD. sometimes i get the OSD but no picture - either way it is very fast.

i am using the latest GBPVR, .NET 3.5, all FW turned off. logs are attached, any help appreciated.

could this be related to the capture card that i have? its the Compro T300. note that the capture card only seems to find half of the channels available to my area but im assuming this is an unrelated issue.

all help appreciated thanks!

Streaming mode is only compatible with .mpg files. You're using .ts files, so will have to try file sharing mode instead.

Using the Cyberlink or ATI mux will result in .mpg files. You're current using the TS mux.

any reason that this info isnt in the client/server setup guide on the wiki? i spent a whole day troubleshooting my network etc. the setup guide would have you believe it streams tv out of the box. very frustrating.

Quoth the wiki:
Quote:Using Streaming / File Sharing
•Streaming Use streaming to access the data on the server. This is the faster method but is only compatible with MPEG2 files. Playback of DivX/AVI recordings or as well as the display of SRT subtitles is not supported.
•File mode Use file sharing to access the data on the server. Slower but more versatile.

yes, you're right, it could be a little more explicit. But it DOES say "only compatible with MPEG2 files."

I suppose one of the guys with wiki access should could tidy that up... wait, I have wiki access now... did I just volunteer? We'll see...

Hey, while we're on the subject... Sub, I know you were working on making streaming work with .ts files and had some beta code for it a few months ago. Did that work bear fruit? Will Streaming support .ts in the next release?

I havnt done anything on this since posting that patch a few months back, so probably wont be any different in the next release.

streaming tv is what sets gbpvr apart from the rest of the freeware win media centre programs out there. this is the sole reason we have opted to trial gbpvr with our customers. if this could be developed into a no-brainer, out of the box solution i would expect gbpvr's popularity to rise dramatically.

Did you read the EULA? GB-PVR is not for commercial use, and the license agreement does not allow for it to be redistributed, or included with machines or services you might be selling.

thanks for the heads up. we will not be selling gbpvr sorry for the confusion. often times customers ask us to recommend media centre software - are we ok to recommend?
