please help to configure IR blaster

now that i returned my HD-PVR, I bought a remote to control/IR blast my cable box. however, i can't get it to work.

I purchased the following from ebay.. I'm sure it is a version 2.

It is made by HP and it says HP Media center on it. However, in Device manager, it shows up as "ehome Infrared controller" instead of "MCE infrared controller." it does not respond to HIP...

Does anyone have something similar and if so, how did you get it to work?

when you say doesn't respond to hip, did you re-learn the buttons?
[not all remotes use same exact codes, and that's a vista flavor remote]
it looks just like a sony, and i'm sure it's a mce remote...
[they all say ehome infrared receiver]
as that one is Vista style, you actually get more buttons than normal mce remote..
[i have one of those, has 8 'category' buttons instead of just 4, or only 6 like Haupp. remote]

the blasting codes shouldn't have to be relearned if already setup..

are you using normal windows driver? [no need for alternate dirver anymore]

oh and it may be set to a different codeset...
hit and hold dvdmenu button, then hit #1 and hold till it blinks...
that will set it as remote #1 [default] and may work then...

i'm not at all interested in using the remote this device came with.. I have a wireless RF keyboard/mouse combo that works well. However, this remote works well with GBPVR too, but won't be usign it.
I only want to use the IR blaster portion, basically, beign ble to send IR signals from the USB. I've had HIP learn the codes (0,1,2) from my STB remote. however, when i use hipsend or het2hipsend (IE: hipsend 11), no channel changes on the STB.

after you learned the ir codes to blast, did you teach hip to respond to the 'hipsend 1' from a cmdline? took me forever to figure out that one..
that way it'll only blast when it sees a 'hipsend 1' not every '1' it hears...
[open dos box, go to hip/prefs/alternate input, and edit #1 and click rescan, and in dos box type 'hipsend 1' and again to confirm...etc. etc..]

no i did not.. will try this and will also try net2hipsend. I tried net2hipsend earlier, this did not work either.

on another thread - someone was talking about IR server service - am looking into that as well.

Did it finally work for you?
I have Vista Media Center PC from HP that came with a very similar IR blaster and I cant make it change channels or do anything else on GB-PVR. It works perfectly fine in Vista MC.

I have a similar problem. My pc is an HP Vista Media Center. The IR blaster looks exactly like the one above.
The IR reads my remote and shows on the screen the channels I type in, but it will not change the channel on the cable box.

It alll works perfectly well with Vista Media Center, the problem is only with GB-PVR.

Can any one help please?

did you 'train' the Blaster with the correct signals from your STB remote ?

if not.... train the Blaster and give that a try
