im just adding a few tweaks to the Videos plugin im working onto work better with unraid (mysql support, linux filewatcher) and wondering how many people are actually using unraid.

if you dont konw what it is check it out here http://lime-technology.com/

its basically a linux software RAID array, but more flexible. and since its linux, you can run mysql, rtorrent, or anything u basically want on it.

I just got my motherboard & 3 1TB drives delivered to set up my unraid server.

Are you using it now Reven? What is is like?
I was thinking about extending it by buying a license once I see if it works as expected.

How is the videos plugin coming along?
It's the thing I missed the most changing from GBPVR to PVRX2.

i actually really like unraid, its better than my drobo.

it took me a while to get it up and running (mysql took a few weeks), but now its really good. i havent yet put in a parity drive (had to keep drives in my drobo to transfer the data accross), but will soon.

bubbaraid is a must, and you really should install unmenu (just so you can install mysql, unrar etc easily).

its faster, more flexible and cheaper than my drobo, so i love it. the webpages for it are extremely ugly, and look like the early days of the internet, but other than that, i would highly recommend it. i got the pro license.

Videos is coming along nicely, finally got it working with mysql (well odbc, so should support most dbs) and had a the first test build with mysql as my db last night. didnt quite work, movies had no pictures, and tv episodes disappeared, and files were sorted strangley. but those are just minor things ill fix tonight. im just trying to get a file system watcher for unraid working, so when a new file is added to my unraid box, it puts a new entry in the mysql db, so it is automatically added with all the info to the db. that will only be useful for a unraid box.

It's a software quasi-raid NAS.

Free licence allows for 3 drives, and you can set one as parity so if a drive fails you can rebuild.

Runs off a 1GB flashdrive, and you can add whatever drives you have, speeds sizes etc, and you can expand at any time (parity drives must be as big as largest data drive)

Reven, I can't register on your site for some reason. If you want some testing with videos / Unraid / mysql, I'll give it a go.

Are you running the Unraid Beta, or 4.4.2?

Cheers

hey, u did register, so the error must have occurred after that. i just approved your account. so just login with what ever credentials you specified.
testing will be a little while away, im still playing with it to get the db locked down (had to make changes to support mysql, and any other db, theres no uniqueidentifier in dbs other than ms sql server pretty much).

an im using unraid 4.4.2, its the only one that supports bubbaraid. so basically im using
- unraid 4.4.2 pro license ( 4 hdds atm with no parity, still have to finish cleaning up my drobo so i can use one of those drives as the parity disk)
- bubbaraid 0.17 (i think thats the latest version, well whatever is the latest is what im using)
- unmenu
- unrar unmenu package (the one i posted on the forum Smile)
- mysql package (modified to work on my machine, i posted my solution on the forum thread)
- rtorrent and wtorrent (only real reason im using bubbaraid)

unraid is the best solution i found, its cheap, flexible and pretty solid (never crashed on me, did i just jinx myself?). the fact u can install pretty much anything you want on it, is just cool. the fact its linux is the only issue for me, being a linux n00b, but its teaching me linux, so i guess its good.
