No Channels Found in Digital Channel mapping.

Just upgraded from 1.3.11 to 1.4.7 (did not work in either)

Have used the current hdhomerun 20090830 and the beta 20090923beta2

Windows firewall exceptions for config pvrx2 and GBPVRRecordingService.exe . Have also turned the firewall off.

Ran the HDHomerun setup program and have, what seem to be, correct entries in bda.ini

Installed MpaDecFilter.ax & Mpeg2DecFilter.ax and have run Re-register filters.

Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't seem to find a signal on any channel. Start HDHomeRun Config (GUI), select the tuner you want to try and then scan using that tuner in GB-PVR. Do you see the Physical Channel change in the Status section of the HDHomeRun Config while the scan is going?

No. I tried that. GBpvr scans the channels while the HDHomeRun Config GUI is open and nothing changes.

BTW, thanks for your work on this!

Code:
2009-10-10 21:22:18.453    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Microsoft Network Provider

What version of Windows are you running? If you are using XP, I would upgrade to at least service pack 2. If you are running SP2 or newer, run HDHomeRun Setup and on the "Advanced" tab, click the "Repair" button to repair the Windows BDA components. If you still see no change in the GUI while running a scan, set the following option in config to false:

Code:
<BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>[color=Red]false[/color]</BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>

Use notepad and not wordpad to edit config.xml because wordpad will corrupt it.

Post back if it works or not.

Edit: You might also want to try switching to the TS Mux.

I am a new user, but have spent a LOT of time on this today. My problem is similar to jjuhl -- no channels are found during mapping. I am using version 1.4.7. I have tried repairing the Windows XP components (I have SP3). BUT there is one difference: when I open the HDHomeRun Config application the Physical Channel does change during the gb-pvr attempt to map from Schedules Direct. Signal strength rises nicely in both application windows when the scan hits an active channel but all mapping fails in gb-pvr.

I have not yet tried the suggested change to false in the option
<BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>false</BDAUseGenericNPForATSC>

I have now changed the config.xml 'BDAUse' switch to false, but no success. (By the way since the HDHomeRun has two tuners it is possible that jjuhl didn't see the Physical Channel indicator change if the proper tuner ID in the HDHomeRun Config window was not selected. Perhaps our problems really are identical....)

Sure would appreciate some help with this....I feel like I am sooooo close!

This is on XP MCE Service Pack 3

I ran HDHomeRun Repair of the Window BDA components.

Changed the BDAUseGenericNPForATSC to false

There is still no change in the HDHomeRun Config (GUI) during digital channel mapping.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean when you suggest to switch to the TS Mux.

Does the Microsoft Network Provider filter need to be added?

Thanks again for your help!

I just consulted this forum thread from the Silicon Dust site:

http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7524

The first entry by jhaglund, dated Sept. 17, 2009 says,

"is anyone else having issues picking up channels in 1.4.7 with 20090830 firmware? every time i run a scan on a new install, i get nothing."

and the thread doesn't imply there has been any resolution....

I am attaching the two config logs from my latest attempt, hoping someone can decipher them!

@jjuhl: On the "Misc 2" tab in config, the very first option, "BDA Multiplexer", select "TS Mux" from the dropdown. I'm not sure how you could add the Microsoft Network Provider filter to your Windows Installation.

@naniboujou: It looks like you are changing channel properly but just not getting the PSIP data. Try opening config.xml (located in the GBPVR program folder), and changing the following values:

Code:
<BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>5</BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>
  <BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>25</BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>

This will cause GBPVR to wait a little longer for the PSIP data to be delivered. Also, use notepad to edit config.xml. Wordpad will corrupt it.

Sorry it took so long to respond, I've been offline for a few days.
