Hi,

I've been running 1.4.7 successfully for several weeks now. This past weekend I attempted to schedule a recording and the guide was empty. It shows the list of 7 ATSC channels I have defined, but no data for any of them.

I played around for several hours trying to get the guide updated but was unsuccessful.

Since I only have two shows setup for recurring recording at this point would I be better off renaming the "gbpvr.db3 " file to "old.gbpvr.db3", copying the "empty.db3" to "gbpvr.db3 " and reloading the TVGuide and re-doing my recurring recordings?

Is there any other valuable info in the database other than the TVGuide and if so how can I recover it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apologies in advance but ...

A common cause of this is the computers system date is wrong.

Open a Command Prompt, CD to the GBPVR folder in Program Files and run ...

pvrx2.exe -updateepgonly

Then post the logs for that show this execution of PVRX2.

Thanks for responding, Graham, but I don't believe it's a system date issue.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't run the pvrx2 -updateepgonly, but I did bring a copy of my logs directory to work so I could look at the files over my lunch break. All of the log files I've opened (GBPVRTray.exe, PVRX2.exe.log, Config.exe.log, etc) contain valid date/timestamps at the beginning of each log line (i.e. 2009-10-11 21:12:23....). As long as GBPVR is getting this date/time info from the system (which I assume it is), the PC date is correct.

Is there any particular log I could attach NOW that would help? I have PVRX2.exe logs -1, -2, and -3 with -3 being the "oldest".

Any during the time period of an EPG update.

If the Guide is empty, this implies that attempts to load data into the guide are failing. If you have a log that shows an attempt to load guide data, attach that. From memory, you should see a block of lines in the log with each line listing a channel followed by the number of shows loaded for that channel.

For ease of use ... it might be better to wait until you can do the updateepgonly thing.

I renamed the pvr db3 file last night and created a new one from the empty one.

After configuring my capture sources, etc I ran the epg update, but still no info in the guide.

I'm using mc2xml sourcing to microsoft.

PVRX2 log attached.

you might try removing mc2xml as well as all your capture sources from gbpvr config, and then reinstalling/reconfiguring. It's a lot of work but has solved similar problems for me. You may get lucky and find some setting or something along the way that caused the problem.

It looks like you have data coming in, but you're getting an error:
Code:
GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: No channels have been setup
Try making sure you have channels enabled and listed in config. sub can probably give better guidance.

If youre on Win7/Vista maybe try deleting the "C:\Users\<Your account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR" directory.

Thanks sub and all others who replied.

I was able to get everything straightened out by starting over with an empty db. I recreated my xmltv.xml (also using a custom mc2xml.chl and mc2xml.ren) then re-defining my capture source, ran "Empty EPG", and "Update EPG", re-did the tuning for the capture source, and everything was OK.
