The response to keypresses from the remote control on the PCH is much slower than on a client PC. Not complaining, I just have a question. My PCH is connected via powerline adapters. Would the response be better if I was directly connected at 100Mbps via an ethernet cable, or is the response speed an issue with the PCH itself?

My wife is impatient with the remote, and she tends to hit skip forward a second time (or third) before the first is completed. Occasionally when this happens, the recording resets and starts playing again from the beginning.

Using wired ethernet is always preferred. In video I expect about a second for the server to respond and another second or two for the client. On some files that use the NMT player some delays in skipping can be really bad.

I can offer a few general suggestions on improving menu speeds but not skipping in video playback except don't use FF/RW use Prev/Next GBPVR style navigation.

I generally do use the Prev/Next GBPVR navigation. I think I will concentrate my efforts on getting comskip to work a little more reliably, then skipping isn't required. By the way, comskip on the NMT is fantastic, my problem is with the TS file timelines being off. Comskip works great at the beginning of a recording but gets less accurate the farther along you go. Thanks again for your help.

I have been so impressed by mvpmcx2 that I ordered another PCH (refurb) that I hope to use to replace my HTPC. I will be sorry to see the PC go, it's been a work in progress for a couple years - but it's hard to beat the price/performance/power consumption of the PCH.
