Hi all, does anyone know of a capture card test i can dl? GBPVR isnt seeing my tuner(Hauppauge850), but the native Wintv program opens fine (should I have uninstalled that? Nothing said not to). The EPG downloads a list, but when the program tried to map the channels, I get an error: 'GB PVR was unable to start the BDA you configured. Check that it is connected and not already in use.' Ive no idea what to do, I think Im close to giving up.

Reproduce this, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

log3an, just to check, did you select the HVR-950Q entry when you setup your capture source? I might not have been clear in the other thread, but that's what you need to do. The existing HVR-850 entry is for an older version of the adapter and/or driver.

Hey Sub, I appreciate your help, but as I searched for help on making a log, I came across this:

Sorry this device lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder, so isnt usable in GB-PVR for analog channels.

You can use it for ATSC/QAM channels, but if you're unable to find any of these digital channels in WinTV then there is a good chance GB-PVR also wont be able to find them. "

This person was using the same 850, the difference is, I cant get digital OR analog to work. Hi again johnsonx42, you did say 950, and I think Ive tried all of the selections even close to 850. Attached the logs though, found the info strand=) Anything offered would be sweeeeet; with all the time Ive invested, I really dont want to just walk away. Thanks. A lot.

This is still true. Its not supported for analog in GB-PVR. (but give the error message you quoted, I could tell you were trying to do digital not analog).

I can see the error in the logs, but unfortunately the cause isnt clear.

Does the device work in the Hauppauge WinTV software?

Your logs show it is working with the HVR-950Q selection, but it's not finding any channels. You didn't mention your source though. You are using an antenna, right?

The HVR-850 isn't supposed to have QAM (digital cable) support. It's only supposed to do Analog cable or Digital antenna (and analog antenna of course, but there are no more analog broadcasts), and the Analog side isn't supported for GB-PVR.

Don't worry about codecs yet, you need to find some channels first.
