Ive been using beyond TV for a long time for analog tuning but now im looking at DVB-S. Before taking the plunge to buy the cards im curious about the following and would appreciate any help/advice that anyone may have.

Will GBPVR work with the HVR-3000 without any special tweaks?
Does it support dual channel recording?
Does GBPVR support the Satelie EPG or will I need to use a XML TV Guide?

thanks for you help and advice

Yes.

Its worth noting the analog side of the HVR-3000 doesnt have the required hardware MPEG2 encoder, but the device is find of DVB-S and DVB-T in GB-PVR.

With multi-record enabled, you can record multiple channels if they're on the same frequency.

Yes, you can use the DVB-EPG.

I just installed the drivers that came with my card & it has been working fine for ages, if you want to use the (unsupported) analog side of it you need to install softmce to get it working.

If you enable multi-record you can record multiple channels off the same transponder at the same time, basically in NZ two dbv-s cards will record everything at once......this is not including the SBS channels that are available at the moment you would need a dual LMB & another card to be able to record them at the same time as something off the other transponders as they are the opposite (vertical I think it is as opposed to the others that are horizontal).

Yes the DVB-S guide works.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the feedback. I really liked BTV and the thought of using Win7 Media center wasn't very appealing.

Ill get the cards and install the software tonight and give it a go.

Any last words of wisdom or should I expect this to be a walk in the park?

EDIT: PS; I'm not planing on using analog so sounds all good for me on DVB-S

It's worthwhile browsing the GB-PVR Documentation Wiki, you'll find a lot of useful information in there GB-PVR Documentation Wiki - Firefly Remote
