I'm wondering if anyone has setup GB-PVR with a Sky TV Card (Via the Jaycar reader) and DVB-S tuner.

If you have, can you tell me or point to a thread using GB-PVR to do this. I do not have Sky but am thinking of maybe getting it and using my HTPC like a MySky box.
Also does the picture improve using EVR with nVidia/ATI de-interlacing ? I've seen how average Sky Sport via SD feed is
Obviously recording via the DVB-S stream would be encrypted on the Hard-drive so do these files play back via GB-PVR and decode on the fly?

Thanks
Griffy

I dont do this with SkyTV, but I do the same thing with TelstraClear's DVB-C network (which broadcasts all the Sky channels).

I remember reading it can be don with Sky TV's DVB-S system, but the various multidec plugin options need the newer revision Sky smartcard. Apparently they only supply these with the MySky boxes, and some of the small Pace decoders. Other decoders have the older revision smartcard, which the plugins dont like.

Yes I have heard that you need a certain coloured card.
I live in the part of Christchurch where Telstra didn't lay the cable...bugger

One of my cards (WinTV HVR 1700 DVB-T) has inputs with a Mpeg2 HW Decoder. I guess I would have to get the Sky Box to change channel though?

I want to do this, but don't want to lose my MySky access too (by having card in the jaycar reader)

Sub, If I wanted to do thids,
Would I need a special DVB-S2 card or something if I wanted the HD channels (with my current subscription & HD ticket) or will any DVB-S tuner do it?
(does GBPVR support S2 cards?)

Yes, you'd need a DVB-S2 to get the Sky HD channels.

GB-PVR can do DVB-S2 on the Hauppauge Nova-S2, HVR-4000 and HVR-4400.
