Folks,

I've been using GBPVR since '05 and it's been great. After the DTV switchover, I bought a hdhomerun tuner since that meant I could share the same unit with another computer around the house.

I've been having some problems using gbpvr with hdhomerun. I receive OTA broadcast. As with most things OTA, the signal drops out occasionally, sometimes for several seconds.

This seems to do bad things on playback with gbpvr. It would skip, sometimes for 10-20 mins of the program before continuing. I know it wasn't recording a blank during this time, because if I skip back using the remote, it would always let me play the jumped over parts.

I'd like to be able to playback without these big skips. Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome this problem? I searched the forums but couldn't seem to find an answer. I can put up with the short periods of signal loss, but it's a problem when gbpvr skips over huge chunks of the program before resuming playback.

Do you have comskip installed? If so this is the behaviour I'd expect to see when playing back a file that has had incorrect commercials identified by comskip. If you hit pause though, it'd also highlight these sections of program in the timeline.

No, I don't have comskip installed. I also checked the timeline and there doesn't seem to be any highlighted sections. I did notice that the current position (time) will jump ahead erratically everytime it hits one of the "bad" spots.

If you close the app and restart it, then view the same file, does it do it again in the same place.

Yup, its very consistent. These jumps tend to happen more with distant stations (weaker signal, hence more dropouts). With a local station (rarely drops out), it never happens.

I'm not really sure, but if you're able to supply a small sample recording that exhibits this problem, I'm happy to take a look.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to get a short segment with the problem, maybe by cutting power to the antenna pre-amp to simulate dropout.

The problem does sound very similar to the earlier threads. I'll look at using different muxes to see if they make any difference.
