Cannot get it to work - the recordings show up in GBPVR / recordings with the descriptions, but there is no option to play any of them, only to delete or close.
I know it needs .net 3.5, but on the MS download screens under supported OS Windows 7 is not listed, and when I tried to install it nothing happened...no error, nothing.

Vidimport crashes with this error report:

64-bit. Its hard to read the dos screen before it crashes, but right at the start it says something like 'unable to find GBPVR directory'
Maybe because GBPVR is in Programs (X86) instead of programs?

No, local drives. To save having to install from scratch I just copied over the config and database from my XP partition, which worked fine apart from recordings because W7 had given all the drives different letters.
Thinking about it, the recordings showing up in GBPVR are probably because the database was carried over and nothing to do with Vidimport. I guess I could re-letter all the drives in W7 to match XP, but was worried this could impact XP in some way...

You would definitely need to install GBPVR first to make the GBPVR registry entries and then when you "copied over the config and database" you would need to do that as Administrator to avoid copying them into the Virtual Store.

sounds like its using the old database
ie looking in wrong place for recordings
remove all recording then re-run video import
tick check for recordings in config.xml

I agree, but as per OP Vidimport does not seem to work. This is despite UAC turned off and running as adminstrator.

OK sorted; Vidimport is working in that it is generating a videos.xml file after dragging a folder onto it. It is just the last part that does not work, where it usually updates the GBPVR database automatically. But if the import recordings option in config is used, and pointed at the videos.xml file, then the recordings show up in GBPVR fine.
Thank you carpeVideo for this tool - it has helped me out many a time, and this issue with Win7 is the first time I have had any problems with it.

I haven't tried using vidImport in quite a while. Now I'm getting this same error. I'm also using Win7 64-bit. I thought that when I used it in the past it was also with Win7 64-bit, but I'm not sure.

Is anyone successfully using it with Win7, 64-bit?
