I'm really not sure where I should be posting this message so support seems as good a place as anywhere.

This is driving me totally nuts & I'm not sure if it's something wrong with my setup or what is causing it? I know sub has already answered a similar question I ask a long time ago for the MVP but this from my NMT seems extreme to me.

I am finding the display from my NMT connected to my 33" CRT is "MILES" different to how it displays on the PC screen & it makes modifying skins almost impossible as things don't seem to grow bigger always in the same direction.

I have included a screen shot showing what it is doing......very noticeable if you look at "Track# 188" which I also displayed in a box to show how it moved & on the right hand side.

I ran into this today with an issue from pz1. To have the same width, the "SD" font would need to be adjusted. If you run your PC at standard res like 1366x768 you would need to factor the size by size 640/1366 and 576/768 to have the appear the same.

In the pictures above, it looks like the PC is set to 16:9 and the NMT is set to 4:3.

All the skinning is based on percentages, so if you display some text in a field that is 50% of the width of the screen, you'll manage to fit more text on the screen of a 16:9 than you would on 4:3. ie, it doesnt give you skinnier text to fit the same amount of text into the same percentage of the width of the screen - the text would look really skinny/screwy.

Yes I know that's what it looks like but I can assure you that it isn't, both the PC & TV are 4:3 & it is set to display 4:3 on the PC..........when I view it on my MVP it looks "almost" like it does on the PC but as you can see on the NMT it is nothing like the same. This is why I'm asking as it is SO MUCH different from the NMT as you can see.

I don't think it is aspect ratio at all, as I said I think it is resolution and font size. If that is shot was of <!-- All In Blue View (or Dark) --> it uses

<TextStyle name="AlmostMutedText" color="AlmostMutedCol" size="12" style="regular"/>

What does size="12" mean ie 12 what?

I have always assumed it is font point size?

If you look at the pic's you will see the album art has also expanded, it is like everything is displaying bigger, which I can live with up to a point but it is just so much bigger I can't get things to fit any more & I have also even increased the width from 86% to 93% & still can't get everything to display now Sad

Points and pica are inch measurement though. What I suggest you do is adjust the config.xml setting for the PC side and change

InternalRenderResolution>0x0</InternalRenderResolution>

to use the value with offsets of your NMT (ignoring XY)

You probably will have the same sizes.

You lost me a bit, do I just set it to 640x576? or something else? From my config:

<MVPWidth>560</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>536</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>40</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>20</MVPOffsetY>

One other thing I just remembered (the old brain doesn't always work as well as it used to these days), I have been assisting my brother getting his referb'd A100's setup & initially he had them hooked up composite & commented on how much different the fonts displayed in the Recordings screen, today when he rang with an update on how it was going he commented on how much better the Recordings screen looked after he hooked up using component but still displaying standard pal wide screen (not HD). Could it be something to do with how it displays over composite?

I would use 560x536 and compare.

A quality difference doesn't surprise me, component 576i would be better than SCART or svideo(I've read both camps) and then composite is lowest. But the fonts should look basically the same.

I suspect there is nothing you're going to be able to do about it short of changing the resolution you're using. (ie try reducing MVP height, or increasing the MVP width)

As Martin says above, if you either change your desktop resolution to 560x536, or set <InternalRenderResolution> to 560x536, then you'll see exactly the same thing on the PC. It basically comes dont do the fact you're rendering into a very square display area.
