Hi,

I had a Toshiba external hybrid tv tuner that I tried to use with an old P4 computer running XP Pro. The tuner worked, but the computer was too slow.

Move forward...I've now got a Dell Studio XPS that is more than capable of handling the tv tuner, but I can't get it to work. The drivers from Toshiba are set up to only work with a 32 bit OS and mine is a 64 bit system. I've tried to install the 64 bit driver from Avermedia. It installs and then changes the hardware name to from Toshiba ATSC TV Tuner to Avermedia M039U USB Hybrid DVB-t. Device Manager shows the hardware and says that it is working.

When I try to configure GB everything seems to look like my previous setup, but when I try to scan for channels, it doesn't find any.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here is the contents of the filter log. I don't know if it helps

Do a scan, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I'm pretty green with the software. Are you speaking of a channel scan? I've looked at the gb directory and the only file I see is a config.exe.manifest log.

The files are in the logs subdirectory.

A scan happens when you click the 'map digital channels to epg channels' in the config app.

I've rerun a scan. I've attached the zipped file.

There is no errors in that log, but the device never managed to lock onto a signal.

Thinking someing might be wrong with the tuner, I hooked up the old computer and attached the tuner to it. I was able to go into gb and watch local stations.

When I hook up to the new computer, no channels. Where should I look next?

To be honest, I dont know. From GB-PVR's perspective it looks like everything is find but no signal ever locked.

Is it possible that a tv tuner could not have drivers for 64 bit computers?

I was able to get a 32 bit laptop with Windows 7. I was able to load the Toshiba drivers for Vista 32 bit OS. I loaded GB and was able to find all the local channels. Unfortunately, the audio doesn't seem to be working. I'm going to try and restart to see if I can find anything.

Any thoughts on 64 bit drivers or the audio problems?

My guess is that Toshiba isn't going to be updating their drivers because they no longer have this product and have no reason to support it.

Your problems with 64 bit sounds like it is most likely related to the drivers.

The audio problem on 32 bit is most likely just a decoder problem. Try installing AC3Filter.
