I'm wondering if there is any solutions out there. I have GBPVR running on a puter perfectly. Unfortunatly it is connected to the home network wirelessly. I'm trying to install GBPVR clients on other computers in the house. Everything works great except I can't seem to get live tv to play on the clients.
Screen goes black for a few seconds (maybe 20 secs) then returns to the main menu.

I read the wiki and there is mention that wireless may not work, but some people have had success. I've tried everything I can think of.

Love the program! Hoping someone can help.

+1, only thing that doesn't work for client. USB tuners don't light up... wireless G and everything else works fine.

I managed to get recording playback to work reasonably well over G wifi but never liveTV. Using file share mode - using streaming mode I've never got to work at all. It's odd that recordings playback kinda ok but live TV does not as I assume in file share mode even live TV is buffered to a file which you are effectively playing back the same as a recording. Anyhow, it doesn't work.

Does anyone know if it'll work over an N wifi network? Or are the problems bigger than just speed throughput?

just set it recording then watch select select it again from guide and press play
i dont undrstand why you need live tv anyway Smile

although just tested mine and it works fine Smile
im using ts recording from SD Satellite

do you have the right tvbuffer folder selected is it shared on the server with full permissions

also try turning of fire wall for testing purposes if this fixes it you need to ad permissions to your firewall

also signal has to be really strong this makes a big difference

I dont use the live tv buffer on the server itself as I only ever use preview live TV mode for nice quick channel changing. There is a live tv directory set up though which I am fairly sure has full permissions from the client. I've not tried it since moving the server from vista to win7. I've never thought about recording the thing on live that I want to watch on the client!! Must give that a go. Smile However that doesn't solve idle channel flicking which I do a lot! Although that'll probably always be fairly painful from a client.

I use file sharing and have gotten live TV to work. I will put a caviate that i am using a wired network, but i experienced the black screen issue and my laptop is wireless and it works too.

On playback tab, you need to set the server to use the maximum value in the Live TV buffer, This is the only way i could get HD channels to come through, otherwise i got a black screen and was kicked back to tv guide

I also have the client live tv buffer pretty high. This is a little annoying as it delays channels changes and initiating live tv on the client quite a bit, but hey atleast it works and is consistent

I assume setting the server live tv buffer to the max wont impact me using preview mode? Assume it only applies when using timeshift / non preview mode. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go later.

I'm fairly certain it's not a firewall issue (I think I'm fairly competant at the networking issues). I tried turning of live preview and increasing the buffer to the max but to no avail. I'm gonna try switching to a wired connection today and see if that works.
A look at the logs shows an inability of the client to connect to the server so I will try turning off the firewall and see what happens.
Thanks for the comments though! I'll keep working at it.

Logs attached incase someone can make a better diagnosis than me. (I'm not a programmer!)

I am not sure if this is something you have tired, but along with firewall openings you will also need to make sure that the database folder have full r/rw permissions as well, i have to make sure the devnz folder had permissions set correctly to, when it wasnt it caused some issues, but i dont know if this effects you.

Also on a side note, not all file types can be streamed live through GBPVR, and some wont work with files sharing mode, this is mainly for live tv.

I dont remmeber what is what but i know i can not use .ts for steaming live tv i have to use filesharing.

Just thought about that, so you may have that issue too, although i am not sure if there was a change in 1.4.7.

Turned the firewall off on the server and voila! It works.! Odd though, I did have the exception added into Windows Firewall so there must be another setting. Still working on it.....we'll see.

Thanks for the replies!
